970 sli still best investment per money, if Titan X would cost up to 700$ it would be a winner...

No FP64, no custom design, probably limited overclocking... is that what we want for "best performance GPU"? at 1000$ i would like to get a good aftermarket cooler on it...

it looks good in some and not so good in others, overall 40% faster than 980. overclock might do wonder if it wasn't limited to reference.

It's actually cheaper than i expected, and why not charge $1000 for it now when there is no competition.
Saying that, milking the impatient now and then massively dropping the price in a few months might piss off alot of people.

As mentioned, unless it's all marketing bs then the 390x will be quicker and cheaper than TitanX and that is just for one card.
    $2000 gets you 2 TitanX's while that might get you 3 390x's.

Edit: That got me thinking, surely AMD will want to increase the price if they know the 390x is faster, it also made think there are to many X's in this post:puke2:

Still it reaches 84c under full load. That's why people want custom coolers...

Yeah 40% at QHD, but 4K performance is like terrible. It's like 15-20%. Most I'd pay is $700 for this.

It's 37% faster at QHD and 36% faster at 4k.

I doubt AMD can extort people as well as nVidia seem to. They may increase the price of 390 if it's a beast and 20% faster again but AMD don't seem to be as aggressive with it's pricing because low price is what gets them a large % of their sales.

I mean I guess, I looked at sleeping dogs -- regardless 35-40% performance for double a 980's price doesn't look that good. Especially when you can just buy a 295x for $700 now.

I didn't calculate it, i just copied that from the final page:)

It all depends on the cost price and the R&D budget, a high % of sales is nice but a higher profit is better.

I mean they should obviously price the 390x higher. It's not like their current strategy of cheap pricing is helping their company at all. Probably will be $700-750.

I dont recall that ATI/AMD ever had single GPU priced at 700$+.

We need 4x more powerful card than GTX 980. Before that happens 4K gaming doesn't make much sense.

Never had one with HBM either. It is not cheap.

If the 390X is going to be top dog then of course they can charge whatever they want.

A balanced price is therefore better for sales, cheaper and faster is ideal but i believe AMD will want to sell a lot of them so yea around 700-800$ will be a big win i think.

The X1900XTX was $650. Coincidentally that was the last time that ATI/AMD had a pretty large generational gap ahead of Nvidia. And I mean you could have said the same thing about the 8800Ultra from Nvidia when it launched.

Regardless, AMD's low pricing doesn't seem to be doing them a favor. You can argue it's been keeping them in the game, but at sub 30% marketshare and the rest of the company in the financial position it's in. It's probably best that they milk the gains they have now. Especially when they took a risk with HBM.

Hmm, 33% at 4k boost over gtx980, HBM will be more essential in 4k story. (Not that I care for higher than 1440p.)

More interesting is power consumption as it seems to be same/higher than r9-290x (and that eats more 250W).

Not really worth $1k over 980Ti/cut-GM200 (unless that costs close to it).
