Is 6GB enough? VRAM has become a marketing issue with Nvidia

It's still enough for 1080p, which I assume is where this card will be used the most.

It's very tempting (grown tired of having to play catch up with the red team). However I don't want to do anything stupid before I read your review, but I do get the impression that I'll have to wait for my perfect upgrade.

I use a 980ti with 6GB in my office pc it has no problems gaming at 1080p or 1440p

Same performance as 1070 but with 6GB instead of 8GB, for 280$ (realistically 300$)
    definitely not a big leap....

Why upgrade to this when you have an RX 580? (just wondering)

As others have said, at 1440p (which is pretty much as high as this GPU will be good for) should work fine with 6GB.
A little funny though, Nvidia seems to skimp a bit on VRAM, while AMD is going overkill. Neither are ideal.

I dont think this is worth an upgrade from 580 or 590. Those cards are already faster than pascal 1060 and close to 1070 or 1660.

580 also have 8gb vram which is nice.

This is the best release from Nvidia in a long period. No matter if the fastest card in the market costs 1000 € or 10 000 €, but the aggressively performing 300 € price point needs to remain. Another product close to 200 € with slightly above GTX 1060 performance would be welcome too. Bring on those budget beasts please!

yet it will be slower than a 1660 Ti.....regardless....?

    much like a 1050ti 4gb vs 1060 3gb....gonna lose every time.

    and a 2060 6gb totally rips the head off of a 580 8gb...

However, the 580 can be had used for $135 on ebay in the states, so comparing it to a 2060 is frankly not fair, nor its the $300 1660ti.

@Hilbert Hagedoorn I think this is a typo "The GeForce GTX 1060 would get 6 GB GDDR6" shouldn't it be the 1660ti?

@airbud7 you didnt take price into consideration. 580 is 100$ less than 1660ti.

I'm actually looking forward to this card as I have no interest in gaming above 1080p nor any interest in raytracing or dlss. I am looking to build a newer pc and think this would be a perfect upgrade over my 4gb 760.

Something like a asus strix version will probably cost close to 300$. At that point people should just go for 2060 instead for a little more.

Yea but all this talk about v-ram?.....I've been searching for the answer for years?
    isn't a 580 8gb slower than a 2060 6gb!....why they even waste the memory?

I guess graphics processing horsepower overrides memory capacity in a lot of instances.
