    Eeew, 30%??

What happened to the 100% generational leaps form before?

another 30% leap for the second time is just embarrassing now.

Lack of competition. If there's no need then just copy Intel and do minor bumps in performance each year as you're only competing with yourself.

Expected, yet very disapointing if true.

Performance per dollar did not improve that drastically in the past 10 years, at least according to LINK REMOVED

Best time was 2016, where AMD had strong competition with RX480, and Nvidia replied with 1060. Unless RDNA2 is good and most importantly, priced aggressively, expect another 20-30% performance improvement at the same price.

it depends the card is tested here : if it s a 3070 , it s very good , but if it s 3090/3080 Ti , indeed , it would be very disapointed :(

100%? Cannot recall that happening per uarch. The last couple were ~50%. GPU are not immune from the laws of diminishing returns, just like CPUs.

Disappointing...I don't think so, it just depends on price.

And I will refrain put too much importance into which class (3080/3070...) it is. We all know too well that between generation, class's pricing range can change dramatically.

What I mean by this is even if it is the 3090 if it's priced at 650 USD a lot of people will be happy (not the 2080ti owner who were expecting bigger improvement though...)

No, it doesn't depend on price. A 30% performance increase is very disappointing - anything lower than 50% is a dud in my book. Only people who can't afford it anyways use price as an argument - again it doesn't matter, performance does !

Totally agree, considering it is a new node, 30% isn't going to cut it in my books. It is still only a rumor at this stage though.

Exactly - the top model (which is a halo product) should be significantly faster than the previous top model. And price doesn't really matter for a halo product. Ofc price does matter for midrange models, where it's about the price to performance ratio... but that's not really what this article is about.

Hey, you are not the only one using this market you know?
Price matter because being able to sell cards in quantity is a factor they consider when building them.
No one wants to produce and sell 10 super fast cards to 10 rich kids.
So performance per price matter because it defines what likely will go on the market.

30% is lower than past generations, is more or less what we got from 1080ti to 2080ti, but 60%-100% happens rarely.

If its a 3080, it will be a nice big jump over a 2080 (around 60%). Not sure why ppl are assuming its a 3080ti or 3090 score.

Price doesn't matter for the top model - there only performance matters - there will be plenty of people buying the top gpu, regardless of what it costs, granted that it provides a significant performance increase. However, price does matter for the lower tier models... which is again why you have different tiers for different budgets.

True - i just can't see why they would leak numbers that aren't the "best case scenario", if you get what i mean.

I'll be very surprised if this is the 3080Ti, even their shareholders where dissapointed with performance numbers from the 2080Ti and how much slack they got from tech media.

Everyone as a price limit, if the next 3090 is 2000 USD but 100% faster maybe you will buy one, but how many will ? And if it's 10'000usd will you buy one ? At the end of the day, everyone look at price and at how much more performance their are getting and do their buying decision. As a 1080ti owner when the 2080ti came out I was disappointed not only because of the small extra performance but mainly because it was so expensive for so little.

Fascinating. What are we looking at here? 3080 or 3080-Ti.

Common sense would led to believe it's the 3080-Ti but i'm opened to surprises.

Let's say they lower current rtx price by 200$ and replace it with 30% more performant new gen, twice raytracing capabilities accross the stack. I'm game.
