everyone has the bfg issue, its caused by nvidia enforcing glsl spec and not allowing applications to use custom gl_ namespaces (the spec reserves them)

 

only way to make the crashes go away is reverting to 472.12, playing hours no problem what so ever.

only way to make R490 stable is to re-evaluate your system configuration and beg activision to make cod less likely to provoke crashes.

 

I've just experienced that CAS, which is downloadable via ReShade's UI as part of SweetFX, is not whitelisted for FreeStyle:

That's really a pity, as it simply is blocked that way. With previous drivers/FreeStyle versions there was no such limitation. I really hope Nvidia can whitelist it (with the possibility to enter higher strengths than 1.0, just like in ReShade).

Are the reports pointing towards Story Mode or Online, or specific hardware?

Didn't have a single crash in RDR2 with 496.13 as of yet, currently replaying the whole story line on PC.

There is an issue with Story Mode crashing even with AMD cards though, not quite sure how it happens but something corrupted some files on my nephews RDR2 installation, 2 of his friends ran into the same issue.
He ended up reinstalling the game (Steams repair didn't fix it) and then start Online before entering Story Mode, since it did not help to remove settings and save games.
The CTD's where without any error messages btw.
Makes me wonder if there is something with an Online session that could have caused it.
So some of them reports might not have crashes that are driver related, but I guess you can see that in the attachments if so.

 

Turned out to be memory timings.

 

I have random ERR_GFX_STATE crashes in story mode on 1080ti (DX12), they are quite rare though

 

Your right on some things but thats just full of crap

all it is, its the shader cache being an ass

 

Have someone a workaround for the random TDRs( black flickering, the driver recoverys super fast ) and random squares on Desktop for some peoples
If i see the Random square ( only one ) my Windows are getting messed up if i overlay or move them

My System runs with Stock settings only the card is factory overclocked but i tested already with a second 3080( FE ) and the bug is still happening

nvidia panel is basically default settings, only DSR ( from: 1920x1080 to 4k ) and Digital Vibrance at 68%
my monitors refresh rate 144hz

My Windows Settings, transparency off, animations off and all other Effects
Only Font smooth/refine is on in Windows Settings

I might test without Firefox opened and later Windows 11 on a second SSD

After i install 472.12 the bug is complete gone
maybe 496.13 sets 10 bpc at default? i always had problems with 10bit in the past

 

nvidia is looking into it but they are having no luck reproducing it,

are you on a windows build lower than 21h1?
did you change any of the chrome experimental or angle settings?

(or are you aware if you've been auto-enrolled into any?)
Has the driver profiles been modified to allow chrome to take on variable refresh?

The issue seems to dominantly affect Chrome and Electron apps, theres a chromium bug open since march for something very similar (and i'd dare say its the same bug looking at example videos)

Nvidia needs to fix it with activision, driver 496.13 is to blame, this is a big franchise game and alot of ppl have the issue that happens by this driver,

And this only one game the Issues are growing.

i never had a problem with nothing in years, this is the first time,

 

i'm sure you will keep telling yourself that through the next 30 drivers that don't fix your degraded hardware.

 

Have you ever had a problem with something? A nothing problem is kinda something, but a something problem is nothing to sneeze at.

 

I only saw them with DirectX when I installed the game some time ago, was with previous driver or the one before that, switching to Vulkan solved it, so didn't switch back since.

 

Yea my 3 diferent systems and laptop with a few weeks is degraded lol

And all other hundreds with the same problem have a degraded system, please……

If cod was the only problem with this driver it has alot more issues.

Iam having 0 problems with 472.12 so iam not worried

I understand, but never having issues doesn't exclude the possibilities of them ever happening for an infinite amount of reasons.
