[NVIDIA Control Panel]: RGB color format does not get set correctly even when forced in the NVIDIA Control Panel. [2451084]

    is fantastic

This driver has Broken Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D Flight Simulator for my setup in SLI/NVLink (2X 2080Ti). If I run Prepar3D in flight, then bring up MSI AB my Prepar3D flight FPS drop down to 5-6 FPS. If I disable SLI/NVLink, do the same test, FPS remains unchanged in Prepar3D.

I must admit, this is the 2nd time I've fallen for nVidia's so called commitment to making SLI/NVLink work better ... this is just SSDD all over again. So drivers might work, some might not, roll the dice and hope it works with your game/sim/app of choice.

I would start to rethink buying SLI, it will just keep getting worse as we move more into true Dx12, plus you have to deal with frametime issues with SLI sometimes.
In Dx12 SLI will be on the Dev's responsibility, not Nvidia.

Seems like everyone is obsessed like journalists. Get it out first, it's all botched to hell and hope we can backtrack to fix things as we try to deal with it. Quantity over quality.

Per my post, the reason I went BACK to SLI is because of NVLink and nVidia's promise that they'll put more resources into multi-GPU configurations with the new 2080Ti cards. That was my "rethink". If developers move to DX12 with more control over multiple GPU then it's more likely (not less) we'll see solid working multi-GPU implementations (FYI, I'm a software engineer with over 30 years experience and do know a thing or two about DX11/DX12 APIs).

But, if nVidia what to do real time ray tracing, it's going to require 2 GPUs for 4K res 60 FPS and for VR also. Since DX12 with ray tracing extensions is what is currently being pushed out, nVidia probably need to figure out how to get NVLink/SLI working because right now a single 2080Ti just isn't going to cut it for 60 FPS ray tracing games/apps.

These drivers definitely have some serious problems, tried going back to older drives and still same problem. If I have one 3D game/sim running in window mode (does matter which one) and SLI/NVLink ON, then when I bring up some other app like MSI AB, the FPS of my 3D game/sim will drop by a factor of 10X ... I'll go from 60 to 6 fps. So there is clearly a driver problem with SLI/NVLink.

I am not going to comment on the driver as that depends on system/HW, they work fine for me but I am on 2 gen back.
I tend to disagree with your first part. Yeh maybe in a few yrs when all major engines are Dx12 only or focus on Dx12 they may be SLI compatible.
But if we look at big titles like BF1, BFv which does have some Dx12 support, there no SLI.
I understand your viewpoint on says trying to do 4k with DTR/VR. You really can't do that yet on a single card, close but not there.
Since your software dev you know games need to be done on a very tight timeline and a pretty fixed budget, so I see why the lack of polished Dx12 or features.
I guess we will see over time how this pans out.

    EdKiefer,

Agree with you on development budgets, to be honest I doubt many dev projects even with DX12 as the base API will focus on multi-GPU support, even less for those 3D shooter type games that are primarily console ports. I'm an old fart at 54 so my 3D shooter days have come and gone and I don't have any interest in consoles or 3D shooters.

I have no idea how long it will take for RT to get mainstream, but it's clearly the direction nVidia are moving towards with these 2000 series GPUs. They put effort into NVLink that helped reduce some of the bottleneck around standard SLI ... but it's a limited version of NVLink, the Pro cards have a much more robust NVLink that can support the type of data bandwidth needed.

But back to my specific issue ... something is obviously not working correctly (is it driver or is it app, I'm suggesting driver because the apps work fine in single GPU mode) and my concern is I don't get stuck in-between a finger pointing game.

Right, I follow that, I can't help on maybe workarounds on SLI cause I left that in 3dfx days.
BTW I am 61 I play all games/sims I feel that are interesting.
Used to be into flight sims and even dev on one but I digress.

These drivers don't work very well on my 2080ti. In games GPU boost doesn't even work, so I had very low fps in games plus alot of stuttering. Couldn't even adjust the core clock frequency manually in MSI afterburner as the nivdia driver would just crash. Had to revert back to 416.94 and now everything is back to normal.

Atleast until nvidia brings back the early access program that used to run and give educated tech users a chance to report indepth bugs before drivert releases.

The latest drivers has a quite severe glitch in Hitman 2, lots of pixelation across the levels, from what I read, however, I saw it in full glory in Nightfall level. I reverted back to latest hotfix driver, 417.21 which got everything back to normal.

I guess Nvidia was so focused on thier new tech(RT), that they forgot to test the important stuff. :)

Is the Hitman 2 bug present in 417.23 Vulkan Beta also? Don't have the game to test myself.

When playing Heroes of the Storm 4K windowed mode I am having NVidia has crashed and restored error but it never restoring , i need to restart the computer to gain proper screen or else it just black . Using TeamViewer while it happens I can see everything still going and i can control from there.

Using Full Screen fix the issue or at least I think, could the setting Reduce Mouse Lag cause the crashes ? cause I think I might enabled it and forgot that it might cause that.

I seem to be experiencing the black screen issue that others have reported when the display is turned off after 15 minutes then fails to come back on when I press a key or move the mouse. It's only happened twice fortunately but it should not happen at all and has only started happening with these latest drivers.

For now I've decided to disable the option to turn off the display after 15 minutes.

I noticed higher cpu temperature in GTA5 mp, cpu usage not sure atm, somewhat average. Although I don't see low gpu usage anymore, so I guess it's ok..

But still, it appears to be using AVX more, because now Im seeing AVX type of temps.
Only time I ever saw such temps in GTA5 was when I listened to my own mp3 songs on the radio and it encoded on the fly @ AVX.

has TDR in Firefox been fixed? I been randomly *rare* getting TDR that reset the FF draw window since I upgrade to 1803 build of windows. windows it self and game dont have TDR issues though. first 398.82 was doing so i updated too 411.63 but it still happens in FF at random.

all my game run like they should with out TDR issues so let it be in hopes it FF bug they need to fix, If was getting TDR in windows and game were the whole screen went black I would be an on happy camper and ocd'ing

Haven't seen them in FF63 and FF64 on R416 at all, even once.

These seem to work OK for me in games on 2080ti but on the desktop and web-browsing I get screen flickering every few minutes. Not only that but if my PC is idle for 10 minutes and my monitor turns off I can no longer get it to turn back on with the mouse or keyboard.

Went back to 417.01 and all is fine

yah see I had 411.63 for about 2 months in that time I didnt see 1 TDR in firefox, till yesterday like said it it rare which why I dont care much, but soon as it happen it triggers that OCD about me caring, till I forget about it cause it rare

Last time I had legit TDR where windows would black out for second or 2 and monitor would go in standby mode, was when my 9800gtx finally decided it was time to die.
