I get this as well. Same monitor too. Thought my hardware was failing, as every thing I buy turns out to be faulty in some way.

I had the same issue once. Not sure if it is related to the driver, I saw this happen when I upgraded to the Ryzen 7 and it only happened once on the first bootup and I didn't have drivers or even Windows installed actually.

Monitor is ASUS PG279Q connected via DP.

Well, I've re-optimized and re-tweaked windows, updated other hardware drivers, re-checked cpu and ram oc and still, the pausing I get whenever I load up Watch Dogs 2 is still there with this driver. With 378.78 driver it's silky smooth from load to quit. These 381 drivers don't like my system. :(:(:(

So far I didn't have anything yet with this 381.89, both 381.65 and 381.78 had 1-3x.

I see, I'm currently on 54.0b4 and yes while it happens rarely on 381.89 I still had like 4-5 total since updating to latest driver. Hope if it's MS fault they'll address it in next update on Patch Tuesday.

A lot of people have this problem including me. Please let us all know if you get a response. I'm running older drivers at the moment which fixes the problem.

    this fixed it for me:

set cpu affinity to however many cores you have in msconfig and reboot.
