GPU-Z. I just tried a +5 core clock and got LOWER scores on skydiver twice lol. I think I'm just gonna stay where I am. Higher by ten points after restesting old clocks. Probably at the end of its rope or something.

1419 equals out to 1454 in game so I corrected it in sig. Don't really even see the point in going higher. Doesn't seem to make hardly a difference in game.

Cheers for the timely driver release NVIDIA. I'll be enjoying The Witcher 3 tonight.

The driver itself is great, been playing GTAV for a couple of hours now with no issues.

I still have my OC enabled (+160 core, ~1500 boost) and no crashes.

So after about 4 hours now of gaming i have not seen any issues with this driver yet.

Played some GTA V, Hero's and Generals and tested some overclocks with BF4 running.

Even pushed my 980 up to 1600/8000 with no issues, noticed a small increase in temps overall but that might be due to ambient temps.

All games i've tried seem to be butter smooth and not a single issue.

Did a full clean and fresh install using DDU and safe mode.

Just the three ticked boxes i always use, Driver, Phys x and HD audio.

Will try these soon on my very clean and cold pc with very good and well chosen components, will report back after some gaming and general use.

So put my card to 1454 Boost in GPUZ and it pulls 1492 in game and gives me a worse score or no better than my original 1419 Boost GPUZ clock.

Overclocking really seems quite useless at times past a certain barrier.

How exactly is an overclock "harming" a card?

If anything is harming a card (or a CPU for that matter) it's when people overclock WITH HIGHER VOLTAGES than normal...voltages kill cards, NOT heat and not higher frequencies. (As for heat, modern CPUs and GPUs throttle down and then shut off before any damage can even occur)

    *

While +150 more on the core and +400 more on the memory "at first" might not look like much, say you go in a benchmark from 95 FPS to 103 FPS...it might be that you run into exactly such a situation where you get 57/58 FPS in a game...and the overclock is then what ultimately makes you keep a steady 60FPS. And this WOULD be a difference.

Heat and current kills electronics period bud. Your assertion that heat isn't what puts wear and tear on things is inane. Yeah, I mean, your GPU will just shut off no big deal. It SHUTS OFF because you will fry it otherwise lol. Not because it is not being damaged in the process. No way to tell how any GPU itself will react to higher and higher temps.

Of course Voltage, Current, and Heat play a part together and must be kept within spec. Over time current and voltage are both very dangerous if out of line. Electron Migration yadda yadda. They will all do you in if you are stupid about it.

I just overclocked my card by +30 on the core and it did basically nothing in game. You are never guaranteed 2-3 or 4 FPS by putting your core up a tiny bit. Also an assertion that doesn't really ring true.

People for some reason tend to think overclocking a core frequency somehow gives you all these magical FPS and makes your game ten times better when in truth it's barely even noticeable past a certain point.

With +30 at a certain point on any GPU you are lucky to get a 1 FPS difference. In Sleeping Dogs I can't even tell the difference with my core up from 1454 to 1492 on Boost. There really is no difference. On extreme it is all over the place. Same for the scores in 3D Mark. Hell, my best score is still on my lower overclock.

So what clock is it in game ?
+5 won't change a thing, you need to go in 13mhz steps .

Edit: I see you posted 1454 , well on 970 I find once your in the 1450 range, the above doesn't give much improvement .
But you need to raise memory clock up too .

How many tabs do you have open in Chrome browser? Any helpful info that can be useful for QA to reproduce this issue?
