With my configuration i achived 4558 points in 3d06 with this drivers 100 points impruvment:banana:
Tried installing these last night, and mysteriously lost the ability to choose 1680x1050 res upon restart. (As well as many other resolutions which were previously selectable.)
Possibly missed some clean up with driver sweeper, and will be trying again later. I'm desperate for a good set of new drivers after suffering the old clunky ones on my 8800gtx.
aside from being WHQL for 9 series, any changes from the beta?
Anyone have the 174.74 beta vista 32 .inf file and can e-mail it to me?
Damn guys, we have some people who don't bother to read.
The 174.74 Betas work on all cards, you don't need this inf nonsense
*Only* this beta version of the drivers work for all 6, 7 and 8 series cards. Get it from NVIDIA here (search beta): http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
The 174.74 WHQL does not install on all cards
Alternatively, you can get the **exact** same driver as the beta with a Microsoft stamp of approval (WHQL), but it does **NOT** install for all cards. Get the WHQL driver from here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
This WHQL version only supports:
* GeForce 9800 GX2
* GeForce 9800 GTX
* GeForce 9600 GT
* GeForce 8300
* GeForce 8200
* GeForce 8100/NVIDIA nForce 720a
* NVIDIA nForce 730a
Similar performance in CoH, crysis, 3dmark06, WiC and 1 or 2 fps more in css compared to 174.12
I run my graphical rig without no OC at all, AA2x, these beta 174.74 drivers and I find them quiet good, for me. I am with XP pro sp2 and the TripleC v1.31 tweak from incrysis.
But, after a while playing comes this kind of bug: and in the crysis benchmark tool: In the benchmarkTool, I had this on GPUbench, at the beginning of my testing session, not anymore after that
With the 169.21 whql I did not had any trouble under the same conditions, but before stopping to use those 174.74 beta, I would like some advice, comment or anything that could help me keeping those drivers, since they are-except that bug-very good.
Edit: this (in one screen of the Onslaught level) is how it looks when no issue occurs:
Ok, I downloaded these drivers. I have two EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 512 cards with Vista Ultimate 64-bit. When I go to install this driver, it says this:
"The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will not exit."
Yes, I have downloaded the correct file for my OS. Now, when I choose to run the program using Vista's recommended ways, this is what it comes back and says:
"Setup detected that the operating system in use is not Windows Vista [64-bit]. This setup program and its associated drivers are designed to run only on Windows Vista [64-bit]. The installation will be terminate."
Now, can anyone tell me what is happening?
Because u will need betas... not whql! these whql are for 9 series and some 8 series like 8400 i think.
so no one meets any issue with those beta174.74 ? Good thing in deed, not for me yet
tried them back to omega`s for me. wasnt stable on my rig
I also have problems with video playback. No matter if it is a div x or DVD. After put full screen a couple of seconds later it freezes. but the audio continues, and all the tasks in the backgorund continue working, for example burning a cd or using utorrent. This is very bad. With games no freeze, but can't play any video at all. Maybe is the 18 nforce beta drivers the problem.
Have been using the 174.74s for about a week now without any noticeable issues. Tried with Crysis, COH and BF2.
Vista32 with 8800GTX, I've stayed with the 169.12's all this time but the good reports on this one won me over to try a new driver - performance is about the same as my 169.12, butter smooth in CoD4 and my machine is 100% stable as normal so they are keepers for me.
This fixed my problem of my computer freezing right up! Go 174.74 drivers!
I tried installing the new 175.74 drivers for my
Leadtek GeForce 6600TD and it says there is no compatable HW
OS> Vista SP1 Fully Updated
I have tried nforce 9.46 official and 18-series drivers both with complete Vista reinstall. It doesn't matter which you use.
Encounter very obvious stuttering in NSF Pro Street with 174.74 beta (NSF Pro Street had stuttering in the beginning but solved it by patching it and setting my swap file to my third Harddisk acting as data drive).
Tried 169.38/169.44/171.17/174.70 and no such problem, thus these drivers
have a problem at least for my system.
Gone back to 174.70, since has IMO the best IQ of the above drivers.
-AMD Athlon X2 DualCore +4800 2.5 ghz
-Kingston 2GB DDR2 667mhz
-Hitachi HD 160GB sata
-Asus/GeForce 7600GS 512MB not-silent
-Corsair PSU 450W
-And XP SP2 and Vista partitioned.
I started to use these drivers I now crysis runs smoother around 40 fps. Previously it was very hard to play in medium settings, but now all are medium and some in high. That's enough for me.
I don't trust em, sticking with 169.25 till the official ones come out:3eyes: Ummm, well, if they ever come out;(
