They were comparing it to the 2080, not the 1080Ti.
Not a bad card at all, by the looks of it, but it does need to be quite a bit cheaper than the RTX 2080, considering it's matching RTX 2080 performance but without the ray tracing, DLSS, etc, whilst also being more of a power guzzler. 16GB of HBM2, suppose that could come in useful in games in say 4yrs time, but then the card is quite slow by then so not really that important. They gotta bring the price down on that AMD card.
I mean those two cards perform roughly identical and in the 25, 4K benchmark thingy that AMD released the card is on average slightly slower than a 2080 anyway.
I don't know, but whenever people feel the need to trash talk like this, it's most of the time due to a defense mechanism activating. Might be AMD got something under the hood with this one after all.
That or it's simply an incredible act of arrogance from the leather jacket guy. Guess it... *wait for it*... just woks, for him.
Maybe this was mentioned somewhere else already, but does this Radeon VII resemble very close to a AMD MI50 and a MI60 Accelerator?
Example - https://www.amd.com/en/products/professional-graphics/instinct-mi50
Don't they serve alcohol at these events? That would explain everything.
...this is why I do not buy nvidia products!!!! This guy is clearly afraid and pissed off of something really bad and time will tell of what?
Probably - it was a Q/A and the original article described him as laughing and being jovial which makes all these comments about him being "afraid" and "angry" all the more amusing.
AMD had to go 7nm to (may)be on par with one of nvidia's new videocard which are at 14nm, and their card consumes more watts presumably, and costs the same? I'd say huang is kinda right, don't understand you people.
so being jovial explain why he spoke like a douchebag
Might do the same if it offers a substantial performance increase over the 1080 GTX. 2080 Ti was hardly an increase and way to expensive to boot.
TIL that quipping at a competitor makes someone a douchebag.
When it's "Poor Volta" in an ad & Roy Taylor making random lies up it's fine tho.
He is a great CEO and deserves credit even now.
We all remember "poor Volta" marketing for peasant vega promo.
YES. AMD finally has Nvidia Volta Performance in 2019. ATI/RTG are trollable as ever.
Ouch, 90 angry posts for an angry CEO....
To me, it just means no 1180 around the corner.
Still no mention of Primitive Shaders or NGG?
but not the CEO, Jensen Huang is nvidia CEO he has not to be a douchebag that's PR's job
I agree. To add to that: if this was such a "lousy" product, why say anything? If he's so confident that his products are better, then the consumers will follow. Nvidia has an overwhelming majority of the dGPU marketshare (especially for hardware of this performance level) so making comments like this accomplish nothing but making him look like an ass.
I'm surprised it took this many pages for someone to notice this haha.
Have you seen the performance of the Fury X? If it weren't for the limited VRAM capacity, that would still be very competitive with modern mid-range GPUs. That GPU ages very nicely, and the only thing that really separates it from others in its family is the memory.
How dumb do you think AMD is? Despite being targeted toward gamers, the underlying architecture clearly wasn't designed with gaming in mind. AMD knows very well that 16GB is not going to yield any real performance difference in gaming. 8GB would've been sufficient. HBM2 is very expensive, so, it's pretty obvious that this GPU is just a modified FirePro. I'm not saying it's a good value (it isn't) but they didn't deliberately configure it like this for gamers.
You are as trollable as ever...
I remember when owning my 980ti the next card in line was Volta the thing that puzzling me was Volta was suppose to be release as mainstream video card but do to the high price of HBM2 memory was pulled now here comes AMD with a 16 GB of HBM2 memory video card at half the price of my 2080 ti.
Also Jenson work at AMD before starting NVidia.
@schmidtbag Nah, the whole gaming community and JHH are trolling AMD/RTG not me. So, enjoy the "poor Volta" chapter 2, I'm not buying the hype like the majority of this forum ever again, I've grown up.
I tell you to stop in one topic, and you go on in another topic with the trolling. You want to talk about being grown up, but you sure don't act like it.
