Why is anyone surprised by the prices? It's a monopoly. That's what happens.

"Shop Now" and no "Free Shipping" on RTX-2070.
Then those prices, I was like: *slowly-cynically* "Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha."

So, Titan is now $1600~2000? *Slowly rising Smile on the Face*

There is no Titan announcement (yet). I think they'll milk the 2080Ti before releasing a Turing Titan on a smaller node next year.

People complain about the price but they do buy a iPhone from 1000 euro or a Galaxy Phone, why not buy both if u can do it, its new tech its going to be a hell of a card in performance.

Looking forward to seeing some benchmarks - not going to bite the bullitt either way before that :D

All these especulation before release, and now that they were finally "released", not a single benchmark :)
I'm not putting much faith in these.

Probably only a "hell of a card in performance" when it comes to Ray Tracing, but for pumping out pure frames per second I don't think this generation is gonna be much of an improvement over Pascal.

Matter of priorities. Mostly concerning life, economics, commitments, etc. Maybe you should ask what % of phones owners own $1000 phones and how many gamers own $1000 GPUs (Steam hardware survey should offer hint). I am sure we all have hobbies and interests, its just what we think they are worth vs other things that may be going on in our lives. Secondly, many of us feel we can easily get by and still enjoy ourselves with a lot less in terms of tech hardware vs a whole lot in terms of expense of such hardware.

the battlefield demo seems downgraded when RTX is OFF on purpose, much more than any other game based on frostbite, and with serious problems in the rendering of objects behind transparent material (windows of the tram)...probably because the engine does not know if the object behind the transparency should be visible or not, due to the mixture of rasterization and raytracing

here I have some examples that could have used equally valid

    RTX Off, without reflections

    RTX Off, shadow not realistic:

I run most games with shadows limited or off. Depending on the game. Good reflections will be nice. I could care less about 100% pefect shadows. I'm sure some folks will love it. If I did any kinda of VR stuff it may be really cool. None of it matters to me at those prices tho. I'm honestly thinking about buying AMD's next line up just so I can say I did.

Seeing the size of the Chips, if what we saw in the leaks was the actual TU104, then the price does not surprise me at all.
They are huge chips for consumer usage.
I doubt there will be many in stock though. Thats also what the "limited to 2 per purchase" makes me think also.

There is also the great speculation about the gaming speed.
I don't see the shaders as having been through a major overhaul, so they should be comparable to Volta, maybe a bit faster.
So it would be a good assumption, to check out any reviews of Volta in a gaming scenario, and extrapolate from that.
I don't think most games will see a huge difference, only due to the increased shader count over the 1080/Ti, and faster clocks, where applicable.
As for price, they are on pre-order here for (cheapest price found) 2080 : 854.95€, and 2080Ti : 1206€.

I'd love to buy a cheap chinese AI pcie card that outperforms that bad joke (together with an AIB GPU, of course)

First, BF1 hasn't gotten a RTX upgrade, has it? I thought only BFV supported that.
Second, they used a seperate environment to test that, it was (BFV) engine graphics, but NOT what we're going to see at launch.
Third, their RTX demo was in alpha, it was even written on the screen during the demo.
