Anyone knows if ATi has a similar software to nVidias Badaboom transcoding software? http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/badaboom_uk.html
Not sure. But I do know that the new gtx400 series won't work with Badaboom(I have it & it now doesn't work). One of the reasons I sold my two 5770 crossfire cards was to use my Badaboom, & it doesn't support the new series of nvidia gpu...sad.
there is a transcoding tool built into the drivers for awhile now. havent used it or know what it does as i always uncheck it during install
Theres nothing for the ATi cards, the built in one is useless and has never worked since having this ATi card, i was going to buy a 460GTX so i could use Badaboom again but 2 posts up says it doesnt work yet

Thanks for the info. I completely forgot about AVIVO Stupid question perhaps, but I presume you need to have installed ATi Stream 2.2 in order to get the transcoding working?
You need: Avivo Video Converter (Avivo Package) http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx The ATi Stream 2.2 can only be OpenCL support there is no need transcoding.
Works fine here for me, only flaw is the limited formats you can use... Plus sometimes it crashes for me, but most of the time it works fine. Otherwise I agree with Merolac“s suggestion, very good...
Great bit of software this one, very similar to Badaboom, but supports both Ati and Nvidia. Only problem is it won't accept any of my Mkv's with DTS audio... Still searching for that "perfect" converter. Maybe will try mediaconverter 7 next. Oh dont forget DVDfab, that supports DXVA for Ati cards and is very quick and supports every input/output ... only prob it has more bugs than a compost heap.
The transcoding tool built into ATI's drivers is somewhat "hit or miss"...and has been since it was first added to the drivers. Not sure exactly what the issue is....but, it seems to work fine for some and not at all for others.
