Well, I would just use FXAA in NPI (Or SMAA I guess) and then downsample then. Results will probably be fine.

Hacking it to 21:9 is probably messing up how it interacts with the driver or some****.

thanks mate, for me alternative to DSR(4x) on 21:9 resolutions or higher is best result for best IQ :) and reduce a lots of shimmering. hopefully dev release patch in future to fix MSAA then we can enhance with SGSSAA

Could always try DSR Tool to try and go beyond 4x if you like too. Up to 16x works fine, given you have the performance headroom. Add in SMAA/FXAA on top before it downsamples and it can have spectacular results, depending on the game.

Also: I'm just curious, do the pre-rendered FMVs have broken scaling for you? Like the intro logos and that intro movie before the title screen?

For me, looks like someone forgot to tick the linear filtering box for video surfaces.

Also: Apparently 2xMSAA works for me in game. But none of the others do.

Since it's a DX9 game, i dusted off the good old gedosato and i'm playing at 3840x2160 using lanczos and fxaa (downsampled to 1080). No blurring or shimmering.

The reason why i'm preferring this solution to the actual SGSSAA (beside the obvious lack of blurring) is because i want to be able to inject some other effects via reshade without having to deal with MSAA conflicting with anything depth-related.

    edit: clarification

yep some games lack of support reshade effects if using AA Flag, but personal taste i prefer SGSSAA than DSR/Downsample Method because SGSSAA its absolutely great job on transparent textures like grass, foliage etc than using DSR4x.
for me using DSR if the game doesnt support DX9 or problem on 21:9 Resolutions

yeah i noticed that , kinda annoying me when prologue gameplay then switch to a pre rendered 720p. btw its not big problem for me , tried using DSR or Proper AA Flag finally remove aliasing on cinematic scene pre rendered and real time video but on intro its doesn't works.

    yes it worked,finally i can enhance w/ SGSSAA2x.
but i have problem w/ MSAA2x enabled , makes the game look washed out lighting brightness increase drastically on texture, sky etc. i don't know maybe a bug, turn off HDR is helped but bit still doesn't good IQ at all.

MrBonk : thanks for tip for FF IV settings. At end i decided to usedDSR with doubling resolution to 2720x1537. Needed to set something lower to have 60fps most of time.

Does it happen with just MSAA or with enhancing SGSSAA (Which might be the problem)?

    NP.

Isn't FFIV locked at 30FPS though??

Just a heads up, if you use the AA fix in Bayonetta, the output is sharper. Preserves more of the high frequency information without introducing much or any aliasing in the process. And it actually handles very thin shader aliasing in motion better.

Do not use SSAO at the same time too. For me, and my 980. It can cause a 20-30% increase in GPU usage only at 1600x900.

    0x004000C1 - SGSSAA,HSAA,OGSSAA (works on 16:9 and 21:9(modified .exe))

*Important* make sure the game running on exclusive fullscreen and force to directx 9 for AA works with using this the command line arguments on your shorcut or set launch option if on steam

    Code:
    -force-d3d9 -window-mode exclusive

edit MrShifty.exe with HxD editor (make sure first backup your .exe) press Ctrl+F search for 39 8E E3 3F > datatype Hex-values
    Code:

yep i turn off SSAO it helped so much performance. thanks mate i forgot to turn ON AA fix,IQ is much better now.
and finally AA Flag works on 21:9 resolutions thanks jackfuste on wsgf forum

    Spreadsheet updated. Thanks guys.

Hm. Running into problem with in game MSAA in Bayonetta. In game 2xMSAA causes image to become washed out. Even with no settings set in NPI. Weird.

Really? That's bizarre. I expected it to give me big performance problems, because shader supersampling usually does. But in a few games, like Pinball FX2 it doesn't. And it didn't for me here.

What do your OSD readings show?? Max GPU usage?

Something afoul. Resolution you are playing at maybe?

SSAO turned on? (This tanks performance with SGSSAA)

OH OH. It does, and it does so even worse with ShaderSSAA enabled.

I turned it back on with 32C5 and I get the same drops you do. I will add that note.
