Microcenter seems to have most cards (AMD and Nvidia) in stock at MSRP pricing for the respective cards.

It's obvious for everyone else, that this campaign is just a preemptive move from nVidia, to score a few more sales at inflated prices, before the market is flooded with GPU's from mining rigs, and before the release of the next gen cards.

When a GTX1650 costs 300€ you know things haven't improved yet.
Maybe at the end of 2023 we will see some better deals.

I may still get a 3070, it all depends on what the 4000 series will look like.

It would however be nice to get a 4070 with 12GB instead, if it's not 400 watts... other wise it will be a 3070. I only plan on going 1440p anyways. Or perhaps a 4060 will be interesting instead.

I hope all these companies CHOKE on their DEAD stock and lose everything they gained from miners... because gamers will give them the big finger.

Hope Intel drops something hard and to reset these jokers.

Remember, Nvidia went to TSMC very big this time around. They paid them billions to ensure they get a bigger slice of the 5nm pie then they normally would have been allocated. All to avoid a repeat of the crazy demand, shortages they faced with Ampere. Now with Intel entering the market and potential mining selloff, they could be setting themselves up with one hell of a fustercluck. Stock up on popcorn by Sept this year, will certainly be interesting to see. :D

As i said above, 'availability' and 'demand', that also equates to the competition being competative. If you can buy a 6900xt for under £1000 and loads are available, then the business model says you will struggle to sell a 3080Ti for £1500.

With many other things rising up in price, I would not consider buying a GPU now for too steep. RTX 3080 would need to be 400 € for me to buy such. Of course, the nearing release of newer models affects the mood too. I think now is a very challenging period to ask anything over MSRP for GPUs if they aim for any significant sales.

EDIT. To be clear, I just browsed prices in Finland and they are way over MSRP, perhaps later settling at that level, but hopefully dropping way further.

Now that everyone and their dog had their share of fun for one and a half years now, I think Nvidia meant "Clearing stock on the gamers".

    1) you're not wrong

    2) we are "itchy trigger fingers" who've been mistreated by the companies who owe everything to their fans and/or clients.
i'm including myself and i used plural for companies.

    3) tech is shiny and wonderful but it is not "on demand".
in this case Nvidia did what most of us wanted - which was to deal with the mining demand and get their gpus in the hands of gamers as end users by expanding supply but that decision was made at least 10 months ago as there are a minimum of four countries in the supply chain. it was probably longer ago than that, i suspect it was at the height of the scalped prices.

    4) Nvidia... well i've dinged them more than once but i'm still running them in my system(s), though not exclusively.
i'm actually going to go out of my way with praise for Jensen as this has his fingerprints all over it.
this is fan service at the pace of hardware, which can't be pushed out with an update.
and in the context of next gen this is ballsy as all hell. Never Doubt this man's confidence in the market.

but i also harbor some misgivings on the price structure of Lovelace and this could be a double move like Apple where you keep some models around while also offering the shiniest at inflated prices. but then i'm always suspicious about market moves like this late in the game and Nvidia is the master of that.

I need a new gpu badly, but not that bad.. I mean I saw one rtx3080 custom model released in 2020 for 720e and now "lowered" from mining scams, still 1000-1100e, 2years later.. this should be now max 500-600e.. max..

    until then,
    have a nice day.

3070Ti is about the only half decent deal in the UK with £629.99 on the nvidia site. I need to upgrade my MSI 2070 Gaming Z, it cost me £ 540 and that was 3.5 yrs ago.
Today it looks like I can only buy a 1660 for less. I want to upgrade my monitor (the new Dell Alienware OLED Ultrawide looks awesome) and with that Id need at least a 3080 (and the 12GB version would be even better). I will not pay more than £750. Look I have the money, I want to spend it...but I aint paying over the top!

  20. Cards might be in shops, but with these prices, they can shove them right up their a...

Our shops are selling the cheapest new 3080s for ~1300USD. That's almost 2x MSRP.
