What's with the naming? Couldn't they at least named it a bit differently than the Maxwell counterpart? This should be quite confusing for the customer, especially second hand.

I don't need screenshots of the die and blocks. It has the same number of CUDA cores as the P100 and it has the same FP16 throughput as the P100, which means it's using the updated cuda core found on the P100 -- the GP104 uses the same design as Maxwell and just includes a single FP16 core per SM.

And yeah, it's basically a memory controller change, which is on the die so obviously is a different design. GP104 has more than just the memory, the core arrangement, register and SM split are all different. None of that is found here on the new Titan X.

Some of you are right jokers nvidia rushing before amd bring out the big guns lmao! AMD have nothing in the high end just hype and disappointment like always, why do you think NVIDIA keeps raising the prices of high end they can charge what they want because they have NO competition.

    Again nvidia its in hurry.

Ok nvidia,I give you 900$ for Tx Pascal. No? You want 1500 $ with 300W TDP and only 12GB Vram?
    Sorry.bye.

Who wants Titan X Pascal now? Remember where are Titan&Titan X (Maxwell)? After 3 monts will come Gtx 1080TI and throw this "Titan' to the trash.
As someone says:brute force at its finest.

The graphic cards market (75%) are on low-mid cards.Only enthusiasts want Titan X or 1080TI or RX Vega. :)

Could a GTX 1080 Ti with a 384-bit address bus have 9 GB of VRAM?

With the announcement of the Titan X coming out on 2nd August, I'm wondering if I should cancel my GTX 1080 FTW order at Amazon and wait to see what NVIDIA announced next. I'd be really annoyed if the GTX 1080 Ti was released in September for example, especially as I've been waiting two months already for my GTX 1080.

    All the compute people?

It's $200 more than Maxwell Titan X and 60% faster, 120% if you are doing low precision neural networks. The Maxwell Titan X was an extremely popular card in compute. This will probably be even more popular.

No,only 1% of nvidia users will buy it.
Remember how many buy Tx Maxwwell and how many buy 980TI.

    @Darren You have 980TI,wait for 1080TI. :)

People on this forum always think about gaming. Nvidia's HPC market is almost as big as it's gaming market in terms of revenue. There is more to these cards then just games and guru3d. This Titan isn't even be marketed as Geforce anymore.

    a 1080 isn't a worthy upgrade from your 980 Ti.

    I'm in the same boat.

However, remember that there is no confirmation a 1080 ti will ever exist - so you could be waiting for nothing. It also depends on AMD Volta.

I will wait and see how the benchmarks for the titan come out. I may switch if its "a big enough beast" - but we will see.....

I see you eager to burn your wallet for the new Titan. It seems you have forgotten where Pascal has situated the current Maxwell2 Titan. :behead:

Nope not really possible to have 9GB.

256 bit you can use 4 or 8 chips, with 384 bit you use 6 or 12 chips with 6GB or 12GB capacity. To obtain 9GB would need 9 chips at 1GB which design doesn't allow for without comprise (think 970 having really 3.5GB it really screwed up bandwidth for the 0.5GB slice).

I'd think that if there is a 1080 Ti, it will be 12GB with 12GBs of regular DDR5 memory or it will be 256 bit at 8GB.

At this point, I think Nvidia will be holding off HBM2 for the Pascal refresh 11xx in the first half of 2017 or so, at which point it should be readily available.

It might be wisest to wait until then or at least what AMD's Vega will bring to the table before upgrading from one of the big Maxwell cards.

It's last gen's architecture. Titan or not, it can't escape the inevitability of moving forward.

    ----

Benchmarks will have to be "extremely good" for me to consider it, which lets face it, they probably won't be / live up to the PR

Same here. My Amazon order was delayed from arriving today to 26-28 July.

At least they compensated me with not charging me for the express shipping. So I pay only the card.

But as I said, after these news I'm seriously contemplating about cancelling the 1080 Palit and go back to original plan of using a 1070 until the big guns arrive.

Will save me about 220 euros getting a 1070 instead of the 1080. I will try to decide today.

And looking forward to the announcement of the Titan X(P).

    That's why I have a 1070 now and not a 1080.

If Vega will compete with GTX 1070 and 1080, then I don't expect a 1080ti with this GP102.
Maybe nVidia will launch a crippled GP102 GTX 1180 and a full GP102 GTX 1180ti next year, just like original Titan and GTX780/780ti.
Well, that depends on Vega performance.
