I can't seem to play Half Life 2 full screen with these drivers. Anyone else have this problem? I start Half-Life 2 and after it "fails to set correct video mode" twice, it just runs it windowed, which works fine. But i'd like to be able to play in full screen

Sounds like you're using RefreshForce with HL2.
If you're trying to force a refresh rate you have to enter it into the command line as follows:

    -w 1024 -h 768 -refresh 85

    -w is width
    -h is height
-refresh is (obviously) the refresh rate

If you need more instruction on entering these parameters reply back.

Though many things worked fine with these drivers I had some issues tonight with them turning off my monitor. I'm posting this simply to add to the info available about them and not as a request for troubleshooting. ;)

The old XL-R8R demo by MadOnion/Futurmark would not run. The monitor turned off when I attempted to start it.

3DMark03's demo would not run. The monitor turned off when attempting to start it.

I think that it was also one of 3DMark03's benchmark tests which also shut off the monitor. I do not know which it was.

By "turn off the monitor" I'm referring to a power standby mode. Where the light goes from green to an orangish color. Hitting ESC in all of the above instances closed the program and the monitor immediately came back.

I've gone back to 71.89 and have ran each of these programs with out a hitch.

Yes, I use driver cleaner pro when switching between drivers. :D

Hopefully this info will be helpful to someone somewhere. If no, oh well then!

try increasing your AGP voltage, or dropping to agp4x

there are some agp8x problems on some mainboards, and the monitor loses the signal causing it to revert to standbye

    Any info on 3DMark03 scores?

Seems like the 76.xx has poorer scores compared to 75.xx?

Actually.. I am. It's a dual monitor setup, one LCD and one CRT. I have been able to play HL2 fine before in full screen, but I was using 66.93 drivers. I decided to upgrade after I was getting strange, frequent video crashes. My screen would flash like it was changing resolutions, but when it came back the entire screen was gray and covered with artifacts

I updated to these from 71.89's, and I noticed that Mpeg-1 videos were no longer playing properly in Windows Media Player. Only black was shown, and it was eating up 100% CPU resources. I've since gone back to 71.89's. Can anyone else confirm this issue?

This is too bad, because they fixed a Java issue that caused Java applets to cause my entire second monitor to go black when launched until I moved a window over all the blackness so that it would refresh that part of the screen.

I had problems with mpeg and avi video with the 71.89s it would show black then i would close it then i would get massive resolution distortion the screen would be very pixelated and the resolution go way down and there would be lines across the screen pattern was 2 pixels lit horizontally 1 horizontally across. Happened on both CRT and LCD screens and the mouse position was different than it appeared on screen it was very strange It happened on a FX5900xt

I just found the 76.10 drivers dont cause that distortion at all!!! and decent frames with the 76.10s but definatly worth having drivers that down cause my screen to go nuts periodically when i play a video
