one: its using the old menu from the 66 drivers and 71.xx use the new ones, so right off the bat is fake.

not necessarly provoko, and coz your a noob i'll explain something to you

beta sets aren't always complete. they may have a broken shader path or opengl string

i got 60000 aquamark points with the 70.41's on my 5900XT becoz it was rendering everything without the metalic shaders

    everything was gold

when i loaded another set , it was back to my normal 30000 aquarmark points

My BFG 6800 GT OCs to 400/1100 with no problem at all. Try it and see what happens. My temps barely increase at all.

yeah but you want 401 on the 2d temps

    that drops the temp

strange that it needs to be at that to lower the temps

Well I'm happy with these so far, I've been running 67.03 for quite some time, too much tearing on them. These 71.8x ones cure that and are super smooth. Just had 3 solid hours of Call of Duty and they play great. IQ is excellent. Keeper for me so far on my 6800GT clocked at 410/1.12

You don't know how to read? You're fixated on benches. Did you read the rest of my post?

Look, 10 people do the same test over 5 different games and they all report the same amount of increase from one driver set to another with the same IQ, the test is valid. Period.

But you can't get to that point if you DON'T test.

Don't discourage testing/benching. That doesn't even make sense. Would you like to live back in the 1200's before the scientific method was widely used? You can't come to a conclusion unless you test it.

If you read my post correctly you wouldn't have posted. I'm not talking about broken drivers. In fact you can't even come to a conclusion that a driver is broken unless you actually test it. I suggest you re-read my post, read this carefully, and don't make stupid discouragements.

You didn't read my post either, did you see my example of fps test?

Yeah, I like game benchmarks better too. I also like seeing people post GAME BENCHMARKS and IQ tests so that I get user feedback before actually installing a driver, so that I can prevent finding out it's crap and ending up uninstalling/reinstalling.

You didn't read the rest of my post or you chose to ignore it. Only through playing do you know which driver is better. I could give a rats ass about max fps if avg fps or min fps sucks or if IQ sucks.

    ... wow...

    very fast, no Problems with:

    FarCry,UT04,CoRiddickEFBB,Painkiller,Source Engine,Rome -Tortal war,Lock On(-> very nice work!!) SplinterCellPT,CallOfDuty.Doom3

DVD/HDTV/DiViX Playback works fine with Media Player/PowerDVD/WinDVD (no Probems!)

My Eizo L550 (DVI connected) works without problems, flickering or something.

I havent tested to overclock my Card on my second Rig, its the ASUS 9999TD 6800, (with the 67.03 i cant overclock this card!!) try it tomorrow...

    cya all

You forgot HL2, but thanks for playing the other games!
Actually, i had a brief chance to play HL2's water hazard. I'm seeing a little less tearing without vsync on, as compared to the 67.03's or 67.66's which were already pretty good. Some of the 7 series drivers were also good in this regard. I haven't played D3 in a long time but i'd love to see if it still tears as bad as it used to with these new drivers.

Edit: Oops, i'm playing with vsync OFF, and getting less tearing in HL2.

    Also flickering

I also have the problem of constant screen filickering with this driver as mentioned before in this thread.

By the way I think the answer that it is normal to do that on older monitors is definitely wrong, beacuse why is this not in all 7x.xx drivers then?

It's definitly not a really good driver until it supports ALL monitors.

I can use all drivers without screen flickering except for the 71.81 the DNA 71.80 and an other older tweaked one I don't remember.

So I turned back to 71.20, this works fine, but also without many of the bugs reported (yellow water and so on). :)

So I guess there is something else causing so many drivers to perform so different on some systems.

And yes I use Driver Cleaner 3.

My conclusion: Bad driver (even asking me how these got the WHQL)

Before these I always went back to 67.03 but the IQ on this ver is very nice. Think I'll try these out for a while. Temps are still up though. If you believe the readings that is LOL.

i dont measure performance completely via fps

    coz as time has shown

games can stutter and jump at 60fps yet be smooth as silk at 20 in other cases

ints a driver that can be smooth as sil at 40fps that really gets my attention

    was using 71.80.

with 71.81 my aquamark 3 score is down from 58,000 to 57,300.
3dmark05 score is down only 10 points.

    not much of a difference.
