This new driver supports GeForce 9-series, 100-series, and 200-series desktop GPUs.

    Doesn't support 8 series?

Yeah they do, just not the GTX/Ultra.

I'm using them now though, with a modded .inf file.

You'd be better off using a WHQL driver till you find out what's causing your lock-ups at least.

No point throwing more variables into the equation....

nv4_disp error can happen on Empire Total War by upping all graphical settings. Only game I have that crashes my whole video system.

The 8800 GT requires a 6 pin power connector to be plugged in the card, in order for it to get enough power. Maybe you can try using a different one.

Man speak of the devil and the devil returns.

I have had the same problem since yesterday...This is the 4th time now.

This time I think it's from stretching my ram a bit far; to 1000mhz on stock vdimm. Gotta love that Hynix though it's like rubber the way it overclocks...

I always get this error when overclocking the gfx car too far, it wont produce any screen artifacts or anything but just come out with the nv4 disp errors after a few minutes or half an hour. Could never eliminate it just have to live with a lower overclock.

After a gazillion hours of fiddling with this error & my gtx260, i reverted back to the 178.24 drivers. not a single crash yet.
