    Hello,

im using Windows 7 RC on my Toshiba Tecra M2 Notebook with a GeForce FX 5200 go and im having trouble to get the tv-out and the external diplay to work.
I tryed some different ForceWare Drivers from here and also other Sites. Non of them made the tv-out or external display work. Only the old WinXP driver provided by Toshiba made it work but unfortunatly Aero glass didnt work anymore.

Currently im using the ForceWare from here, Version 97.46.

Can anybody help me or tell me a driver for win 7 that works at first and where also aero glass and the tv-out work with?

Did you try cycling through the different displays with the Fn + display key?

What version of 7 are you using? 32-Bit or 64-Bit?

Download both the driver (181.71) and the modded inf for your OS version (32-Bit/64-Bit) from here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=136

    Now do the following:
    1. Uninstall your current driver.
    2. Restart and boot into safe mode (F8).
    3. Run Driver Sweeper and maybe even CCleaner.
    4. Restart and boot to the regular desktop.
    5. Decompress the downloaded driver and copy the modded inf into that folder.
    6. Run the setup.exe you can find in that folder.
    7. Restart.

In case you're getting an error message when you try to install the driver, decompress it with a tool like 7-Zip, delete the PhsyX installer from the folder and just start the setup.exe in the decompressed driver folder...

    Hi,

i went through ur steps and got that Driver installed. But now i unfortunazly have an "!" in the Device Manager for the GeForce FX Go 5200 and it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Do u have a Solution for that?

You could try different driver versions, but:

Nvidia officially doesn't support your card in 7/Vista/XP anymore. The last driver they mention to support it in XP is the 175.19 WHQL (released July 9, 2008).

They never even released an official driver for the final version of Vista for your card. The only one that did was for the RTM version of Vista, the 96.85 WHQL (released October 17, 2006).

I'm afraid that you just can't get both things at the same time with your GPU (afaik). I'd go back to the driver that Toshiba provided to support the TV-out but without Aero as you wrote in your first post.

(The reason why I suggested the modded inf with a newer driver is that it adds support for additional, older cards to extend their life a bit longer, but apparently in your case your card is just outdated and won't work with newer drivers. Sorry.)

    Hi Cybermancer,

thank you for your reply and Suggestions. I tried already the 96.85 WHQL today before ur suggestion and with this version Aero Glass and the external display works great, but the SVHS. I think i wíll get a converter box to connect my TV or try to safe my money for a LCD TV. :)

Don't use "Driver Sweeper", "CCleander" or such tools... they do not fix anything, but may destroy working systems.
(never mind... if a system has a "crack" already´, u could give such things a try ;-)

Anyway... it is not a good idea, using a 64Bit FX5200 unter NT6 (Vista or Win7).
And if you are using a single core "on top", you may forget it completly.

I know, that's not the answer to the question you've asked for...

P.S.: there are few FX 5200 with a 128Bit MI... these work flawless.
But you need a DC processor, of course.

OK... give me a second shot.

There is an extra chip on the FX5200 for implementing Video-Out.
These chips aren't supported anymore through nVidia in the newer Reference-Drivers and completely under Vista (or Win7).

With newer cards, this chip is implemented on die, directly beside the core of an nVidia solution.
This one is supported, of course.

    As far as I know, Windows 7 supports only HDMI and / or DVI, (but maybe I misunderstood this issue);

My analog output doesn't work either, on Win 7.
But on vista its hould work.

Try the program "driver updater "

Thank you for all ur Suggestions. I think i will have to do the best out off the Situation.

I thought about using a Video Converter Box wich i can plug between the vga output and the Scart plug from my TV. Has anybody experiences with such a Box. Is it worth to get it?

I Think it's worth to get it,but win 7 is still in developing fase, maybe in newer builds your vid output will work,

Or try virtual win XP in Windows 7, beta version availeble on the M$ site.

I can confirm it does work on Win7.. I have a 7" monitor hooked on my 8800GT via composite and it does work..
If the monitor isn't detected you should force it via "mobile pc display" in your OS "resolutions" screen any other option failed for me too.

    Hi,

where can i find the entry "mobile pc display"? I got a german Win7 Version and cannot find any similiar. Is that the entry "connect to a Beamer" Entry in Resolution window? I've tried this and cannot even get with my new LCD TV a Connection with Win7. :(
