I started playing just before the Foundation patch and I'm closing in on 400 hours. This playthrough I'm already about 20 hours in, made some progress on the new main quest which is way better than the old Atlas Path (which itself has been tweaked in the patch). With the new storyline and missions giving you more to do while roaming planets I haven't even thought about base building yet. It's a much more well-rounded experience. I don't get the repetition argument. It's really not that much different to the Fallout games for example. Fallout chooses to focus on NPC characters, colorful quests and combat. NMS focuses on exploration and base building with a side of combat, trading, questing and mining. Compare it to your average first person shooter which is basically Run, Crouch, Shoot over and over again, broken up with cutscenes. I'm sure as hell not clocking in 400 hours with that type of game.
