Not really, it's more for catching bugs and stress testing the servers.

It's really common for a f&f beta before even considering closed beta.

Still I don't think such a f&f beta shows serious server issues, as well as balance with just a few hundred instead of thousands on launch day and the first week. So personally it just makes me jealous for the single reason because it's not worth calling it a real test with settings so far from what's going to happen.

    /rant :D

NMS will have offline mode and even in MP won't be very taxing with players spread out across hundreds of billions of worlds...

18 Quintillion to be precise.... xD

I don't think many players will be running into other players until they get closer to the middle of the universe... and even then..

no that's the total number of worlds. there'll be far fewer in the starting galaxy and yes on the second part I think the center will be a "meeting hub"

I'm excited for what the game promises to be. And having upgraded my video card makes me look forward to it even more. Having said that....

I see the game being delayed into 2017. I also see the game being a buggy mess no matter when it's released.

It's one of those games that looks like it will have very, very, low fps on ps4 which will be improved on PC. But I can see the PC being loaded, to the point of being broken with bugs.

This will end up one of those big empty open worlds with nothing interesting to do is my guess.

Wait, it went gold with over a month left before it's release? Weird.

I remember something about Sean thinking the game was originally only going to be a few hundred megabytes because the game generates itself using clever math... I can't remember where I read or heard that...

The pre-order on steam comes with an upgraded ship, I wonder if we can lose it?

A game going Gold has nothing to do with discs.
    Every game goes Gold.

Going Gold simply means that the game is finished. Development has completed and the game is sent to the publisher for distribution, be it retail or digital.

min req is 10GB disk space that means the actual game setup file(s) is much smaller because it's compresed...
