i ended up getting a refund, the performance is terrible. some of the later levels i was getting sub 30fps
Dunno havent had any perf issues and am around 7 or so missions in..getting better now have some upgrades.
Yup, this is another double-buffered game but I suspect that is more an issue of the game using the ancient Unreal Engine 3 than anything else as it is an issue I've come across with almost all of them. Of course, most of the older ones are 32-bit so you can simply use D3DOverrider to force triple buffering but the newer DX11 games tend to be 64-bit only and so you can no longer force it (D3DOverrider supports 32-bit executables only). Maybe PC developers think people play games with v-sync off and/or have FreeSync/G-Sync display? For me, the former option is a guaranteed headache as I cannot stand screen tearing, even slight amounts and I do not own the latter options. V-Sync is my only option and using it causes the game to drop to 30 fps even if the framerate only dips to 58 or 59 fps, which would otherwise be unnoticeable in a game like this! :bang: Mind you, the decision to cap the cutscenes at 30 fps is equally jarring in my experience as the engine switches between 30 and 60 fps. Why on earth would they cap the cutscenes? It's not like they look much better than the in-game visuals and overall the game looks nice for a strategy game but it's nowhere near the level of, say, Rise of the Tomb Raider, a game I might add that runs at 50-60 fps on my system (and supports triple buffering natively).
Performance really is dire for a game that looks this dated. Feels like an early beta test version or something. I guess they didn't want to delay the game again so they just put it to there and will patch it on the fly with the feed back they get. Welcome to the modern world of gaming.
If the game doesn't run at 60fps even on a 750Ti, something is seriously wrong. I'm still on the fence on buying this one. First one was fun, but the DLC added much needed content and it was seriously expensive. The more I think about the DLC, the more I want to skip this one as a protest to the DLC (price) in the first one. EDIT: So I was writing that ^, and went on to the Steam store: Lol, f*ck them. Not buying the new one for this bull**** again.
rushed it :nerd: i thought it was 3 hours? i did 2h 30 mins and still got a refund. i had decent fps at first but it goes down hill fast, plus its stuttery and choppy as hell.
There is enough people having issues they likely will not be too hard to refuund. Dunno fps is meh but not seeing microfreezing or any of that. 15 hours in. Funny we not seen any game ready nvidia driver yet or a patch from 2k.
Weird. I played the game earlier this afternoon with v-sync enabled and my framerate was around 52 fps with MSAAx2, in other words it was acting as if triple buffering was enabled. With FXAA though the game ran much smoother at 60 fps for the majority of the time. Not only that but the cutscenes all ran at 60 fps!!! Did Firaxis push out a patch or something? Or is it because I was forcing Triple Buffering (usually only for OpenGL games) and V-Sync in the NVIDIA's XCOM 2 profile? Need to double check this...
Not to bothered about the in game graphics, they do what they do after all. The only issues I have so far with the game are the load in and load out times, not sure just how much stuff is loading but it takes way too long, the way the cutscenes seems to stutter randomly, it's not much but it is noticeable however this can be forgiven by the fact that the bald guy giving me orders sounds just like Optimus Prime.
i LOVED Enemy unknown, a true new and entertaining experience to me. Dunno if i'll go for Xcom2, i might when i've more time to play
26 hours or so. Had to finish it the advent timer was ticking up even though i had taken out every advent base. When i do a hard playthrough i am sure it will take me longer. And maybe they fix a few issues and improve the performance.
Performance is fine on my GTX970 on the settings the game recommends for my PC at 1080p. Really enjoying the game thoroughly!
Yea great game but if you played the others and liked them, xcom and rng game in general are love em or hate em type games. This blew up a bit and is getting some blowback from it, the performance stuff does not help. That said the game is perfectly playable but for what is there the fps should be higher.
