Are you sure you properly overclock your board? You can enabled FLashOSD and tick GPU and Memory option to show all time. And then check it in game.

You are probably CPU bottlenecked. Source works the CPU pretty hard and that vid card probably is not being used to it's fullest potential at stock speeds, so overclocking it really doesn't yield any performance increase.

Try raising the resolution and turning on AA and AF until your FPS start to go down, then compare your overclock performance results with the same settings.

For reference, I get 108.67 FPS with my X800XT at 585/1200 in the CS stress test. 1024x768 2xAA and 4xAF. I also get about the same results at 6xAA and 16xAF.

O and btwI get the same results from 2xaa 4xaf and with 6xaa and 16xaf at 1280x1024 last time i checked i got 99fps. But thats only becasue ATi is optimizaes to use AA and Af on source games which is cool.

Yep, that right there indicates that something other than your card is limiting performance such as your CPU.

I use 3DMark05 to test performance improvements from tweaks and overclocking. Source really isn't good for that since it is so well optimized on the 3D rendering and it ends up depending alot on your how fast your CPU is.

Ya thats ture, heres what i got from the test it shows the OC but the fps is still in the 90s. Ill test some other games like Quake 4 which it really not to friendly with ATI cards.

I dont know what to tell you except that your CPU is the bottleneck.

    A 3.36GHZ is bottlenecking a ATI850XT?? lol i dont think so, more like a 2.0ghz would.

I don't think it is your CPU. Mine CSS score is higher than yours with less powerful gc and CPU. I have over 110 fps with every setting on its highest option (like reflect all etc.) and no AA and no AF. GC was clocked during th test at 490/570, no overclocked CPU.

Touch..check to see if you are running balanced profile for the driver.

Thanks for your help dwagner and everyone else.

You can do it thru either the Catalyst Control Center, the Driver Control Panel in your Display Properties, or with ATI Tray Tools. I prefer to use ATI Tray Tools for all my driver settings and to never open Catalyst Control Center.
