I gave it a shot because I got it free on 3 ds Thought it was honestly horrible, I wouldn't really advise starting before a link to the past for newcomers.
The first Zelda game I've played is Ocarina of Time and I havn't finished it yet... Love them though, after what I've seen! wonderful games. Its just ... most NES games are really bad. I'm not saying I don't love them, and that many of them were brilliant at the time they came out, and put their mark on the evolution of videogames. I even bought a NES recently just because its such an iconic piece of hardware. Really SNES was truly the pinnacle of 16-bit/2d gaming. Most games released were very playable and it had a ton of great titles including updated remakes of some older NES games. (SMB3 anyone? Doki Doki Panic too lol) I've been playing A Link To the Past (GBA ver) on my 3ds XL ... such a great game. Completely agree its a great place to start for someone starting on the series.
Got Skyward sword running perfect in Dx11 - 1440p with 8 samples of Anti aliasing. Game looks nice and i have a perfect xbox 360 joypad configuration that i made. Works as good as you going to get it on a joypad and works almost flawlessley If anybody wants my settings or .ini file let me know and ill post them up. On a side note if anybody enjoyed a Link to the past on the Snes back in 91/92 you should check out The Four swords, its very similar to A link to the past.
Hi Veteran. I've tried Skyward Sword on the emulator and its so much better playing with the crisp graphics and 60fps +. The new 3ds Zelda - A Link Between Worlds needs to be played if your a hard core fan regardless of not liking hand helds. Its a true follow up to A Link To The Past. Think im getting a Wii U and Wind Waker to keep me busy until the next installment
Its not just the .ini, you also need a modded version of Dolphin to allow for motion sensor emulation otherwise you will not get past the start screen. Do you want me to upload my Dolphin and all the ini. files? I have made lots of other .ini's for other games as well as motion sensor games.
Afraid the only zelda game to run at 60fps is a link between worlds (and even that has frame drops, nothing serious). Everything before that is 30 or lower.
Skyward sword is locked at 30 fps, ill make an exception for this game though. The only game i will make an exception for 30fps tbh.
I've never actually really played a Zelda game all the way through I remember giving Zelda 2 a play when I was probably about 8 but never thought much of it. Never tried Link to the Past on the Super Famicom either, was too busy playing Street Fighter etc. I did put quite a lot of hours in on Wind Waker on the GameCube, never completed it though! Might have to pick that one up again on Dolphin
I love OOT and hated Majoras Mask. It wasn't due to the day cycle though, the game felt shorter and the I outright disliked the world. The mask thing got on my nerves also.
Did you know that Wind waker HD was just released? I never played it, maybe ought to try it sometime. MM was great.. Back then 1998 or whenever, i did find it challenging but still was a great game.
Just not my thing really, I felt it was a huge step down from Ocarina of Time. Probably over hyped it for myself since I enjoyed OOT as much. Strange to think, I was in my mid teens when those games came out. Feels like five minutes ago.
Yeah i know about it, thing is im sure Scatman or Whitelighting said that the HD cannot be implemented on the Dolphin emulator, it only works on the Wii u. Tbh i beleive that anything is possible with Dolphin, it was implied that Skyward sword couldn't be done on a controller because of the Motion sensor and the way the game is meant to be played but and ive got it working perfectly on a 360 gamepad just like any other zelda game. As for the HD it may come later on for Dolphin, i do not know as i have not looked into it...yet! There is a HD pack for Windmaker though here.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adq742pXknw Tbh the game looks good on PC without it anyhow, it still looks good on the gamecube tbh. Dolphin vs Wii HD (dolphin is on the right) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoADaQMdgEU Dolphin is still amazing and im sure with sweetfx and highres texture packs there will be hardly any difference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoADaQMdgEU However the way i see it if you play the game on Dolphin with max resolution on PC with Anti aliasing it dont matter anyhow about the HD because its going to be much much better than the original Gamecube was which is what i played it on. The only snag is the game is locked i think at 30fps but tbh 30fps playing these games seems really smooth, its not like playing a PC dedicated game and getting 30fps were it looks like a complete slideshow. 30fps is ok for the consoles. I would recommend you play Windmaker, it is my second favourite Zelda after Ocarina. 3D 1.Ocarina 2.Windmaker 3.TP 4.Majora 2D Link to the past Four Swords Zelda 2 Zelda 1 I dont really compare the 2D games with the 3D ones as they were played on primitive hardware and are from many generations back in the past. However they trounced anything else that was released in the own timeframe back when they were released.
Probably me, HD has added shader features you wouldn't be able to just hack into a wii game, real time shadows and bloom. It's got some gameplay tweaks as well, namely the gamepad screen and a sail that auto changes wind direction with you and is double speed (at least the double speed part would probably work with cheats). Plus gyroscope aiming is a good addition. You can do HD on dolphin yeah, just not quite to the same degree (bloom can be added in post process sweetfx but it applies to like the HUD as well). Actually, both of us, detailed it here.
Wish dolphin devs would fix the windwaker bug (fx to be disabled) in vulcano section. (rooster canyon i think but im not sure). I think you have to mod that above mentioned HD pack btw, as some buttons are screwed up and maybe something in the map. (if is this the pack i remember). WW also is pretty awesome with SweetFX btw. About the difference between Zelda windwaker dolphin with hd pack and sweetfx and the zelda windwaker wii-u version, its def there. but you have to see it with your own eyes. IMO it looks great. Wii-u version being better then pc emulated. But on pc it sure is way better then the gamecube version thats for sure. Also i find playing on original perephals much more fun then playing on emulated controls. It is part of the gameplay that way. when emulating it takes all that away. (like playing a snowboard simulator on a controller instead of a board in the arcade hall). still waiting for a pricedrop, i really want to get a wii-u sometime, especially with mario kart coming out which is just plain awesome to play online again (like on the wii). Veteran, i find this very interesting. how far did you progress. maybe i should give it a try, but id rather not if i do run into bugs (Since the dev of that version said it had them) in lets say after 10 hours or so. Would be nice if you could complete the game with the controller.
I have heard that the game can be completed aslong as motion+ is emulated correctly which it is as i have a modded version of dolphin. Also i have read that other people using a joypad have completed the game. I played around for around 1hr just making sure that it all works, then i downloaded a save game were somebody had the sword and i tested that. Works fine. Ill get around to playing it properly all the way through soon.
Can you please keep me updated on that please ? maybe when you have player for 6 hours or something ?
man i like skyward sword... i just hate motion controls... i like to relax and play... i played pretty far into the game... maybe 70%... CBF tbh... anyway veteran? can u keep us up to date? if this works... i'm gonna start the game again on it... also? are you using the xbox 360 controller on the PC? and are you using the original game disc or a mounted image? i remember on the wii, the dvd roms used to read it had to be able to read from the outer edge of the disc as the start.... i remember i bought that specific rom to dump my games as back ups lol
