    GPU:
    MSI 1070 Armor OC
    Specs:
    • i7 920 (no OC, Turbo Boost ON)
    • XFX ATI HD 5870 (no OC)
    • Catalyst 9.11 (8.671, going to install soon the hotfix for Dirt 2)
    • Window$ 7 x64 (with 6GB tripple channel, no OC)
    • NFS Shift 1.02 (with "no DVD patch")
    • 2048x1152 (LCD native resolution) / 16AF / 8xAA (all settings maxed except Motion Blur)
    Playing in cockpit view:
    • 65 FPS (with many cars)
    • 80-90 FPS (average)
    • 100+ FPS (with less things on screen)
If I drive without the car's interior (only the speedometer, etc.) then of course I get a bit more FPS. In replay and when showing all cars from a distance, FPS may get as low as 55.
Waitting for the 9.12 to see if anything else changes.

Edit: Stupid me, typped the wrong patch number :stewpid:

I've just tested the new patch (v1.2) or patch #2. For the first time, I can see that my 4890 is ultilised fully. I've used ATI tool to read the GPU activities. Moreover, I can see that multi CPU is ultilised with this patch as well.

Despite the advertisement said that the game will ultilise multi core CPU, it never did (on my hardware) until now.

With 50-60fps as the lowest fps, this game is suddenly very enjoyable.

Well done to the NFS shift developers...

Now, I'm not angry with Nvidia anymore. In fact, I would happily loose 5fps to the mighty GTX285 since it will probably mean that the 285 will have 65fps and my 4890 will have 60fps.

To me, taking top spot in the benchmark contest is not relevant. To have the game running smoothly is. The way to make that happen is to make sure the fps never really drop to unreasonable <30fps.

    Let the benchmarks begin again...

Did you install patch 1 after installing the game? Or did you install 1.2 immediately after installing the game?

Edit; what did you reinstall? Your OS or the game? :3eyes:

If you have used some mods, or modified some files, you have to completely uninstall/reinstall the game, then apply the 1.02 patch.

Yeah i uninstalled then reinstalled before applying the new patch, then i used the 1.02 NoCd, and it works fine (nice being able to use the mouse in the menus now), and the game also runs a lot better for me now to, doesn't have the weird slowdown anymore, but it does now have a like skip/jump every few seconds or so, but still more playable than it was before, and im finding the more i play it, the skip/jump is becoming less and less noticeable. :)

Im also still on the Official 9.11's.

Well I hope the new drivers work magic.. It's a shame that my 8800 Ultra out performs my new 5870

THe patch makes the game much smoother and also more realistic after the patch. The slickery tire "bug" is fixed to 90%, its not perfect yet but much better! And performance is better, but still not perfect?

It seems like AA isn't working in this game I have it on x8 and I'm still getting 50-60fps at 1920x1200 my card usually chokes with that much, and I can still see jaggies all over the place.

the more I read this thread, the less likely I'm installing the patch......
I have it dowloaded on my desktop, but I think it's going to the trash can.......

BTH, I do not have probs besides the drifting and handling, but this last one with the xbox360 pad, the understeer bug a little practice, its bereable. Not the same for drifting.....

So, is this patch going to improve car handling or not ????
Anyone that was playing with the bar all over the way to understeer, how is it playing after the patch ????

    It's not out for now.
You can find an early beta on this forum or on AMD site if you search for 5970 driver (8.663.1 Hemlock driver).

It may be working, but not as it should. I can see a difference between AA ON and OFF but there are still some jaggies for sure, it doesn't look like 8xAA at all (like for example in GRID)

Well this patch has buggered my machine, going to have to do a reinstall, that like hitch i was getting every few seconds or so since applying the patch (as described above), ive just noticed, its doing it in a few games now, i get the hitch in hl2, deus ex, tombi anniversary, and a few others, all exactly the same as shift does.

Ive uninstalled shift now, but the hitch remains in my other games still, so going to have to do a full reinstall of windass :(
