In a space exploration mission Vodafone Germany has plans to build a 4G network on the moon. The 4G network would be installed on the moon next year, in 2019, the provider mentions. The initiative is ... Next year: Vodafone brings 4G network to the moon
Guys, if your phone is set to allow switching networks automatically, you better keep an eye on it so that it doesn't switch by accident to the moon carrier on full moon nights. I hear the roaming costs are quite high.
That is super cool. I can certainly see cellular comms being useful for moon ops, and could probably be linked to earthside comms easily enough (as easily as anything is done in space, that is). I am really excited by all this interest in returning to the moon.
So there will be another 1.3sec delay if I try to connect with someone on moon... Well, there is nobody of my friends there, yet...
I think vodafone fails in every segment of network, here in hungary atleast after a year i quit using their network cause there is like nowhere reception. I heard rumors when they come to hungary they rent Antennas from other 2 providers, and when they get own they fail so hard... Like you got reception than same position your smartphone lose internet like nothing... They advertise full coverage, i see only low coverage. So kinda they should burry themselfs.
Hey Vodafone, how about you focus on earth first. Where I live I can’t even get 3G, let alone 4.....
if they charge nasa the same they charge people in earth for data ..... then they will blow Nasa Budget with in few days !
