Nyrmetros, If Iam reading you correctly, your only problem now is with the seasonic 750? Motherboard, 3570K and Ram are good.

a leading provider of silent power supplies, Sea Sonic delivers a true breakthrough solution for thermal and noise management. The X Series adopts a clever “Hybrid Silent Fan Control” design, which offers three distinct operation modes, fanless mode, silent mode, and cooling mode. The X automatically adjusts fan mode and speed according to the ambient temperature level. This brand new design not only optimizes heat dissipation, but also prolongs the lifespan of the system by reducing unnecessary fan rotation. To make the X Series even more robust and exciting, Sea Sonic offers a Sanyo Denki San Ace PWM Silent Fan, the best fan there is in the industry, and takes advantage of the PWM feature.

Hmmm.... Maybe that's all it is??

Edit.... So according to the folks at overclockers.com this is quite normal for the seasonic psu. I also just noticed that I seem to have the seasonic x 760, not the X 750. Interesting....

Is it possible to purchase a win 7 pro license without having to purchase the actual disc because I already own it? Would it be any less expensive??

@ nyrmetros, per my XP experience, it will not be less expensive. I Install a disc with used license, MS advised the license was not valid and sent me to their site were I could buy a valid license online. The license was as expensive as buying a retail disc.

That's a shame. I was thinking that purchasing the license might be cheaper since I already own the software...... Hopefully I can find a good deal on win 7 pro 64 so I can finally get the new system up and running....

Just my stupidity. :) All hardware is good. Just need a cheap copy of win 7 pro 64 to kickstart this rig !!!

BTW, has anyone ever ordered parts from this place before?

I see a few things that I would like to add later on when I have everything up and running and some more $.

Did you get Win7 pro from newegg for $114, I checked that day but could not find that sale?

Enjoy your new computer. Iam looking forward to your next newbie build in 2016.

Yes I was able to get the win 7 pro for $114, and then I was able to stack a 10% off coupon. Very happy about that. i hope this system will last a while. There was nothing wrong with my old system at all, but I just wanted to upgrade. Took about 6 months of collecting parts and saving $, but very gratifying that I didn't blow up the computer and things actually worked. :)

So the current HD combination is ....

#1 - Intel 320 series 120gb SSD (boot) (half full and plan on keeping it that way)
    #2 - WD 2.5" scorpio black 320gb
    #3 - WD 3.5" green 1TB

The scorpio drive I am actually just borrowing from a friend right now. Is this particular WD Black 1tb drive recommended?

    It's either $99 or $110........

    So here's another update......

I reconfigured all the ssd and hdd bays.

    Bay #1 - Intel 120gb ssd
    Bay #2 - WD 320gb scorpio
    Bay #3 - WD 1tb black caviar
    Bay #4 - WD 1tb green
    Bay #5 - WD 1tb green

I went into the bios and reorganized the boot order of the drives. My issue now is the win 7 doesn't see the 2 new hdd. What did I forget to do??

Ha. I forgot to run WD Acronis and actually create the drive in windows. Well actually, it seems only one of the new hdd works, the 1tb black caviar. The second green drive which was actually a friends old drive doesn't seem to be recognized by the acronis or even in the bios. Might be a dud hdd ??

So as you see, I have made some progress with this build. I know my cable management sucks, but I hope to improve that over time. Thoughts, feedback?

So here is my next question. Drive E: is a fat 32 drive with some programs and games I want to clone onto drive D: wich is a ntsf drive. Acronis seems to only let me clone the drive and turn drive D: into a fat 32 system. Can I clone the drive but keep the d: as ntsf ??
