UE5 is truly an astonishing game engine.

It was more for coders than designers, only by a hairs breadth - but still, the ability to code geometry to something beyond standard T3D formatting, yet, allowing for inclusion within the T3d file format, that goes back to 1999?

    Jaw on floor.

I highly doubt CDPR would bother doing such an update, they've stated many times they are done with Witcher 3 and are focusing on future titles.

It's going to happen, or at least that's what they have been saying for a while. It was supposed to be third party, but then they took it back "under their wing"... we'll see.

As for this grand plan of theirs, it's extremely ambitious, maybe a bit TOO ambitious.

Do you really need anyone's help?

UnrealEd '99 to UE5 by cutting and pasting.

It took longer to put 'guru3d' in the editor window....before anyone asks, I used the Hammer color scheme for UE5, for y'know, respect.

    Hmmm, here's the thing https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/license

If you anticipate multiple millions for your game or product, the 'custom licence' means you basically spend possibly...$20m, depending on terms, but you get 100% access to Epic Games support and access to bespoke code for you. As you also get the source, you can make the engine and even interface of the engine look and behave the perfect way for you.

I'm gonna take a stab at what kind of deal they made with Epic Games. I think they have a very open and liberal licence with Epic Games for these 3 projects, because the exposure and benefit to Epic Games is going to be massive.

In one swift stroke, CDPR have regained some ground on their reputation, deployed the hype train for a new Witcher game, made a long term business arrangement with developers of arguably the best game engine on the market, and avoided thousands of hours of internal stress in trying to make the unworkable work, and defend the indefensible.

Whatever new games CDPR release, Epic Games are politically and ideologically motivated to help them.

They are in the same boat now, and both have no desire to tip it over.

CDPR probably got the best deal in the industry.
