I thought Scorpio was based on a polaris derivative and not Vega.
AMD/ATI Mystery Code Names:
Kyzen, Aragon, Pharos, Promethean & CoreAmp
AMD has recently filed for several fascinating trademarks for upcoming products. This filing is particularly interesting because we’ve already seen two of AMD’s several new trademarked product names actually get announced last week during the Financial Analyst Day event.
The newly acquired trademarks include RX Vega, Threadripper, Epyc, Kyzen, Aragon, Pharos, Promethean, Zenso & CoreAmp. Interestingly all of these trademarks were filed around the same time in March and at least three of them have been announced as products in May.
AMD also filed for the Ryzen trademark just a couple of months before it announced the Ryzen brand. So we’re looking at a fairly consistent pattern here which could mean that we’ll see even more of these trademarks announced as products over the next couple of months.
Let’s start with the products that were actually announced, Threadripper & EPYC. Both of these product names were trademarked in March and we now know they’re AMD’s new high end desktop and server processor brands.
Moving on to the mystery code names, we have Kyzen, a name that sounds eerily similar to Ryzen. It appears to be a brand for an upcoming processor as it was filed under the same categories as Ryzen.
CoreAmp sounds like a name AMD would give to an overclocking feature or utility. We might learn more about CoreAmp after Threadripper and Vega are released. Now, Promethean sounds like the code name that AMD might have given to its upcoming high-end chipset for Threadripper processors.
We know AMD loves code names derived from Greek mythology, Ryzen’s chipset was code named Promontory. Which makes Promethean a likely candidate for the company’s upcoming chipset.
Pharos and Aragon do not give off the impression that they’re brands, rather internal code names for AMD technologies. These could be code names for on-chip technologies that AMD is working on for upcoming products.
Finally we have Zenso, which is actually the name of the circular Zen logo that AMD has used for Ryzen. Anyway you slice it these new code names sound fascinating and we can’t wait to know what they could end up as.
Kaizen , is the Japanese word for "continuous improvement ". In business, kaizen refers to activities that continuously improve all functions and involve all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers. It also applies to processes, such as purchasing and logistics, that cross organizational boundaries into the supply chain. It has been applied in healthcare, psychotherapy, life-coaching, government, banking, and other industries.

I'm counting on something >1070 perf wise and <1070 price wise to replace my 290...after the summer.
Hmm I wouldn't count on it as 1070 price are ready all way down $350 USA for a ZOTAC ZT-P10700G-10M Mini or GIGABYTE GV-N1070IXOC-8GD Mini.
Good Lucky try to get a Vega this year it all ready impossible just to get RX 580 with out all price gouging going on with it and it maybe 1 to 3 months before we see next shipping just like with RX 480 so better hope you can get on Pre-order first in Dec 2017 time frame or maybe Jan/Feb 2018 so who knows maybe even sooner I sure we all heard about it soon.

Two More ATI/AMD RX Vega Variants, D12 and D05, Pass RRA Certification
It would appear that the RX Vega family is drawing ever closer to release but still hasn’t finished the production processes. We have previously spotted early RX Vega boards passing RRA certification, specifically the “D04” variant but just yesterday two more variants cleared RRA certification and at-least one of them appears to be a flagship GPU.
The “D05” and “D15” Vega boards have received clearance from the Korean radio authority which means that they have arrived at the end of the development life-cycle.

The RRA certification is something all consumer ASICs have to go through in South Korea – just like in the US. Unlike the States however, RRA publishes its certifications in the public domain, and two brand new boards from AMD was just recently certified. Interestingly, we have not seen this board before on Zauba, but this is almost certainly an RX Vega product – how do we know that? Lets find out.
AMD uses a predictable nomenclature while naming its test boards. Previously, all of these boards started with the letter C followed by five numbers. However, the CXXXXX lineup has reached its end with the Polaris family and logically speaking, the company can now move on to the DXXXXX nomenclature. The first digit after C almost denotes the relative power of the graphic card. The numbers that follow are much harder to guess at externally and can depict any specification whatsoever. Since the numbering follows a very obvious trend however, its not that hard to figure out how AMD builds the lineup. Before we go any further, take a look below.
Hawaii boards for were named C6XXXX, Tonga boards C7XXXX and Fiji boards C8XXXX. In fact, if we are being specific about it than the exact code names were:
1 Hawaii XT had the C6XXXX code name.
2 Tonga had the C7XXXX code name.
3 Fiji XT had the C8XXXX code name.
4 Polaris had the C9XXXX code name.
5 Vega should have the DXXXXX code name.
The first certification is for the “ATI-102-D12201” board which includes a range of families within this nomenclature. The naming scheme implies that this is the larger Vega variant that we have seen to date and could quite possibly be the flagship product. It is of course impossible to say with 100% surety which Vega product this certification corresponds to, only that it is a Vega graphics card.
The second certification is of the “ATI-102-D05001” board which appears to be similar in nature to the D04 board we have previously seen getting certified from RRA. If each of these boards conform to a Vega variant then we have (so far) seen 3 different variants get certified by the Radio Authority. Going by nomenclature, this appears to be a cut down variant of the RX Vega lineup. Once again, it is impossible to know for sure which particular Vega variant this board conforms to.
With a single precision compute of 12.5+ TeraFLOPs per second on a GPU with 4096 cores, and considering TeraFLOPs is a function of Clock Speed * 2 Instructions Per Clock * Cores, you are looking at a RX Vega 10 graphics card that needs to be clocked at roughly 1526 MHz. Considering the fact that the already revealed MI25 is passively cooled it should be able to achieve this mark in due course and even exceed it.
The specifications mention the HBM2 stack with 512 GB/s of bandwidth but this is listed as 16 GB. We already know from the RX Vega Doom demos that the product will have total vRAM of 8 GB so this is probably only relevant for the server market. The card will consume 225 Watts of power.
Bitcoin Mining Has Taken all of the AMD RX 580 GPU stock?
So I was perusing the RX 580 section of NewEgg and I noticed that all of the cards are out of stock. Well there is one card for $500, but no sane person would buy that. So where did they all go?
Did AMD suddenly stop making RX 580 cards? Or is something more sinister and foreboding going on?
Then I remember this news article Megalith covered that explained how $100 in Bitcoin from the beginning of the mining craze translates to $72.9 million today.
My poor RX 480 may never find a Crossfire mate. Really I just was curious about the pricing, but it was alarming to see that nobody can buy a card from major online retailers like NewEgg or Amazon.
On EBAY, used RX 480 cards are selling for higher prices than I paid new. RX 580 cards are nearly $400 on EBAY.
Heck even R9 290 cards are $220+. Do you think that we will see an AMD VEGA card for sale at launch? Or will it become a unicorn because of the Bitcoin mining craze?

IMO a good news, becouse ATI will have resources to give Vega faster & more mature at lauch
The downside of all of this is people want to buy their stuff now are almost forced to buy an NV GPU, unless they are willing to wait or pay 400$ on Ebay (in which case you could just buy an 1070). I'd much rather see AMD make a card just for mining so the gaming cards are on the shelf for people to buy and enjoy.

Not much info on Vega at the AMD press release. Only around 10 minutes releated to Vega and then nothing about specs or relative performance. They did show a 4k demo of Prey at Ultra settings. But that was running dual cards. No numbers though, so again a little disappointing.
But I'm really liking the look of ThreadRipper, 16/32 core CPU. What a beast. 64 PCI-e lanes. Wowser.
It seems we have a confirmation now that HBM yelds are not sufficient enough to feed Vega Gamer + Vega Pro :wanker:
HBM2 seems like it has been a bad business decision...

But we will have HBM_2 then HBM_3 and we will have smaller are more efficient GPUs in near future 2-5Y
GDDR5/6 etc are obsolete now (#large, #Hot, #Lot'Latency, #Lot'Heat, #TDP.Enemy )
The same thing was in the History -> GDDR3/4/5 etc.

Lol, so a GPU is only considered "pure progress" when the definition is 100% tweaked to fit exactly what Vega is? Ok. You realize you could just cap the 1080Ti's TDP at 225 and it would literally be the GPU you're describing, right?
