Non-Reference XFX Radeon RX 480 DD Black OC Edition with Beastly Cooler & Massive Heat Pipes !

XFX Radeon RX 480 Sports A Behemoth Of A Cooler And A Cool Custom Lighting Sporting The XFX Logo

Thanks to Quasarzone for helping us view the beautifully crafted GPU, one of the prominent differences between this version and the non-reference graphics card is the presence of the custom logo. When powered on, the XFX logo lights up, upgrading the aesthetic element of your gaming rig. Additionally, the backplate is another stunning piece found on the GPU and there are several holes punched at the rear side to give the components some breathing room to remove all that heat. Apart from giving the PCB a layer of protection, the backplate is definitely one of the most appealing things about the non-reference card.
The XFX Radeon RX 480 features an 8-pin connector, but at this current time, we do not know its specifications. However, the superior cooler and the 8-pin connector all indicate that a higher clock speed is expected ‘out of the box’ compared to the reference version. If you gaze at the cooling solution itself, you will notice a total of 4 massive copper pipes designed to dissipate a substantial amount of heat away from the GPU, as well as a rectangular thermal pad solution, which is most likely dedicated to cool the VRMs. Looking at the cooling solution, we have to say that tweakers will definitely be able to gain a sizable overclocking result on air cooling alone.

    Rumor
    Custom RX 480 delayed?

How overclockers.co.uk in their own forum run has , the custom designs of the Radeon RX 480 were delayed in the past because the reference model run too well.
There were significantly more orders than originally anticipated so AMD GPUs increasingly used for reference cards, rather than sell individually to the board partners - to long outstanding orders of reference cards should hardly be in the interests of manufacturers.
    Original Article from 18:07:16:

After the British Caseking subsidiary overclockers.co.uk date of a delivery date of the Sapphire Radeon RX 480 Nitro next Friday, July 22 , went out this date in all probability can not be adhered to.
As Sapphire even in a live stream has admitted , to the mass production not start up yet. Currently located one still in the finalization phase. Presumably Mitigation creates images were deleted in the meantime .

The trader overclockers.co.uk also has its own forum have announced that 22 July can probably no longer be respected.
Moreover, now the first time final boost clock speeds called : The standard Radeon RX 480 Nitro will come to 1,306 MHz, the Nitro + 1,342 MHz.
Many potential buyers stir while on Information Policy on because there is no board partners would like to comment on any delivery - even to the press, the manufacturers are being cautious and want to make any definitive statements.
By August so you should better not expect a wide availability of custom designs of the Radeon RX 480 for sale.

    Translator in work :)

    Note:
It's not a rumor that RX 480 selling like Hot Cakes !
ATI/AMD can celebrate Great Sales around the World :)

We need to wait for other customs than XFX some more time (Yes XFX DD Black will be on Sale very soon)

    ATI/AMD ladder:

    #1 Reference designs
    #2 XFX
    #3 Sapphire
    #4 PowerColor
    #5 the rest MSI/ASUS etc.

Good to have pictures but one cannot play them. AMD severely underestimated how many reference cards would be sold = no stock = no aib cards.

Those are really good prices indeed. I am just sad that they did not provide early samples to reviewers. Because that would have been nice.

~320$ for reference 480 is normal. For me (Poland) reference 480 is 335$:bang:)

PS.Overclockers start adding new non reference Rx 480 in pre order. It look that they will cost between 230-289 GBP
They also add 29 versions of GTX 1060. Proices between 229-299 GBP

Let the Games begin. I hope competition will force princes to go down in next weeks

    ASUS ROG Strix RX 480

The ROG Strix team, the ROG Strix RX 480 is the souped up version of AMD’s latest bang-for-your-buck offering. Time to upgrade your graphics card to play the latest games without breaking the budget.

    Faster Than Fast

The GPU (grahics processing unit) comes factory-overclocked to 1330MHz in OC mode with headroom for further tweaking (1310MHz boost clock in gaming mode) and is paired with 8GB of GDDR5 video memory operating at 8GHz on the 256-bit memory bus. This translates to a performance boost of 15% in 3DMark Fire Strike and 19% in the latest games such as DOOM and Hitman compared to reference, that’s quite a boost! In comparison, the reference card runs at 1266MHz (Boost clock) and 1120MHz (base clock).

More Performance Through Science (Meet the Polaris)

The new GPU together with the DirectCU III cooling solution with triple wing-blade fans results in a graphics card that is three times quieter (below: three times the intensity changes the sound power level by 4.77 dB) and 30% cooler than reference, only by having this level of thermal performance can this card incorporate 0dB technology which makes the card completely silent during casual gaming.

    One Cool Graphics Card

FanConnect technology incorporates two 4-pin GPU-controlled headers on the graphics card, allowing you to control dedicated case fans to cooling the area around the graphics card specifically. Using the software is as easy as one-two-three.

    Power to the People

Power allocation has been redesigned compared to reference. ROG Strix RX 480 with the use of a custom VRM (voltage regulator module) and PCB (printed circuit board) draws 100% of the GPU power from the 8-pin PCIe power connector (rather than splitting the load between the connector and the PCIe slot). Such a design ensures that the PCIe slot specifications for power consumption is not breached (the card may throttle otherwise).

Just as other ROG Strix graphics cards, only the best components and manufacturing process is acceptable. Auto-Extreme technology employs a 100% automated manufacturing process which requires premium Super Alloy Power II components to be used. Super Alloy Power II components include SAP II Capacitors for more than double the lifespan, SAP II Chokes to reduce buzzing, SAP II DrMOS for better efficiency and thermal performance, and SAP II POSCAP to provide extra overclocking headroom. As a result the graphics cards produced are consistently higher quality, run quieter, more efficient and cooler which in turn makes them overclock better, be more stable and last longer. The process is also environmentally friendly, eliminating harsh chemicals and reducing power consumption by 50% during production.

Fire it up, Light em up!

While the matte black finish blends in with almost any PC build, ROG Strix RX 480 is pimped out with AURA RGB lighting. You can match the color perfectly with whatever theme you’re into, whether classic ROG red (probably the best), Pokemon yellow, or Hello Kitty pink (we know you love it, don’t deny it). From some feedback we received, we included the off function in case you love the Batman theme.

    AURA RGB Lighting

    VR (for Vanquish with ROG)

Besides having the power to power VR gaming, the ROG Strix series of graphics cards are the only ones with a dedicated HDMI port for VR, rest assured you won’t be having any problems connecting up a VR set if you already have an HDMI monitor connected. There are two DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.0 and a DVI-D port. AMD FreeSync will make sure you’re getting smooth gameplay when using supported gaming monitors such as MG248Q, MG28UQ or MG24UQ.

    Tweak – Dominate – Share

GPU Tweak II will provide easy one-click overclocking and XSplit Gamecaster is also included to stream or record gameplay.
Tweaking the performance is made easy with one-click tuning, or use the professional mode made for advanced users.
Squeeze out every bit of performance you can get using Memory Defragmentation to free up more system memory, tweak Visual Effects in Windows, and manage services or process running in the background using System Services.

    Come Get Some!

Getting a new graphics card is not always about a simple hardware upgrade, ROG Strix RX 480 is the whole package to get you playing the games you want. By doing a bit of research, you’ll find that a pair of these will provide staggering performance in the latest AAA games. At this price, with 8GB of GDDR5, why not?!
