I believe it. It happened a few years ago when 5700XT halved Vega64 price and offered better performance. The catch is... which price do we compare to. Day 1 price when 7900XTX released, or Day730 price 2 years after release :D In EU Day1 was around 1200€, so mid range card for 600€ is possible in 2025. Just like today ~600€ for 7800XT.

Now we know why Intel and then AMD stopped funding; they most likely told the guy but he persisted.

Not an Nvidia problem IMO. A problem with every publicly traded company. They're just these zombie entities lurching along whose only goal and legal imperative is to maximize shareholder value while acting like psychopaths in the process. Then magically get bailed out by the government when they fail while small business doesn't. There's a reason when corporations were first created they were required to serve the interest of the public and were only issued for things like building railroads and then revoked afterwards.

Barely a reason to upgrade over a 1070 GTX at 1080p. The benches are bogus for games on most sites like Borderlands 3 where they say it runs at something like 25 FPS on that card but use actual real settings and get 120+ FPS. Then the more intensive titles you find wind up not even being good so it's like why bother (but I bought a 7800xt and 3070 anyway). The real itch to upgrade will be for when someone actually makes a good UE5 game since UE5 runs like piss on everything. First title might be something like Titan Quest 2, but who knows.

When people say things like "I bought a 4060 Ti, now I'm future-proofed," I'm just like suuuuure, if you want to run UE5 at 51 fps or 75 FPS with DLSS at 1080p.

Obviously not Nvidia problem only. But it's not a good thing anyway which is why I commented that.

If this turns out to be true, RDNA4 will definitely catch up with NV in raytracing.

We might finally have true feature parity next gen, this is huge ! Not only that AMD cards will be more attractive, but also NV won't be able to price everything through the roof.
I really welcome a battle like AMD 6000 series vs NV 3000 series without the crypto boom eating up all supply.

6800XT still amazing to this day <3 ... I can only imagine what a next gen with powerful raytracing would bring !

Rumor is that RDNA4 will offer some really nice price/performance midrange cards with AI upscaling and very much improved RT. Hopping here AMD will deliver and i will go for an upgrade.

Literally my first thought. Since Nvidia will release their flagship (and probably 80 card) first, will price high, and AMD will follow suit "because Nvidia set such a high bar".
