There will be cards in the full price range, the first wave 1 are those based on Navi21 --- 6900XT/6800XT/6800 followed by Navi22 and Navi23 based ones in Q1.
BTW -- 3070 is nowhere to be found for the MSRP price & available.
This whole Ampere launch from NV is a joke.

AMD Is Reportedly Working On An NVIDIA DLSS Cross-Platform Alternative

AMD is currently testing a new super sampling feature that is designed to increase performance during ray tracing.

According to The Verge, this feature, an alternative to NVIDIA's DLSS feature, will be open and cross-platform, so it may come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, both powered by AMD technology.
This feature, however, may be a long way off, as it won't be ready in time for the launch of the Radeon RX 6000 cards, which will release in the coming weeks.

While AMD is promising to go head to head with Nvidia in 4K gaming and more, the one big missing piece of this battle is a lack of an equivalent to Nvidia’s DLSS.
Nvidia’s AI-powered super sampling technology has been transformative for the games that support it, bringing great image quality and higher frame rates by simply toggling a game setting.

AMD tells me it has a new super sampling feature in testing, which is designed to increase performance during ray tracing. The company is promising its super sampling technology will be open and cross-platform,
which means it could come to next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X and PS5. AMD is working with a number of partners on this technology, and it’s expecting strong industry support.
Unfortunately, this won’t be ready for the launch of these three new Radeon RX 6000 Series cards.

Regarding RT --- not only we have information from the generic DXR benchmark where it shows that 6800xt is roughly 30% weaker than 3080 (but this "benchmark" is not that accurate), but also notebookcheck has tested the 6800xt in the 3dmark RT benchmark and it seems that the 6800xt is roughly 20% slower than 3080, on par with 3070 and faster than 2080Ti.
So basically that, what I have been telling you about >2080Ti RT performance, new is that 6800xt=3070 in RT perf.

Why not? 350-400W 6900XT, How beastly would that be?

Because I can imagine current spikes at 400W. Would not want to subject my good, but only 750W PSU to that.
While I expect reference cards to have as good design as they always have, I have feeling that such use can drain capacitors in heaviest part of frame rendering which would lead to voltage drop => instability.

(And 300W is not small amount of heat already.)

I think the 6800XT is the pic of the bunch if you can afford it. Like the 3090, I believe the 6900XT isn't worth the extra money for the performance uplift you get.

i know cpu doesnt make much difference at 4k but just realized AMD is only running 3200mhz memory on that zen3 and they say the new sweet spot is 4000mhz. sweet times ahead for team red,

its the same uplift going from the 3080 to the 3090 = 6800xt to the 6900xt 8% - 10% improvement...

That's right and it's not worth the cost increase imo.

I'd be scoping the local tech mall here in my neck of the woods for a 6800XT come launch day. Since I game at 3840x1080, 144Hz, the 6800XT should let me game at that res with max or near max ingame setting.

True, it's still more worth it than 3090 tho, 1500$ vs 1000$ and 6900XT having about the same performance (better in games without RT and worse in games with RT) but with lower power consumption.
