NVIDIA stated that it won't be able to supply the first wave of buyers in the coming few months, this should give AMD enough time to set up a proper release.

One good launch could change everything. ;)
Hopefully it will be different this time around.

    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL :eek:o_O:confused:

3080 Train was derailed badly, for me at last ;)
So we have to wait either way, loled this one hard.

  6. Nice catch, I am starting to wonder if anybody purchased a card. Or any region. NVIDIA sent me my requested link via email; I opened their link the moment it was sent by them (the one I'd requested in advance) and I opened it less than 2/3 min after receiving not. Nothing. Sold out.

I have to wonder if this constitutes some level of fraud or if it's just plain old wasting people's time.

I was keeping an eye out here, I don't think we even had one card in my country. No one has any stock at all, but the price is very very tempting down here. Luckily the stock situation helps me hold out for RDNA2.

    Dude, even worse yet.
I knew exactly when they will start the sale in the NV shop (after 15:00 CEST) and I was on two different devices with two browsers each refreshing the site via an autoscript every 5 seconds.
I saw it one or two seconds after they "enabled" it in the store. And it had already the status out of stock. That is why I dug deeper and found this analysis.... well .... best paper launch up to date imho

Now, we can't be surprised at all.
GDDR6x mass production started in the middle of an August -> let it sink :D

The good thing is that we know tht this GPU is an worthy upgrade, but we need to wait a little.
ATI have time now to give us some Gameplay with GPU that will disrupt 4K gaming.
This is Paper launch for sure. (Im not laughing at all, no matter ATI or nV BTW).

Aaand the 20GB version of 3080 and 3080TI/Super confirmed.... leaked by Gigabyte....
Hope AMD will bring out all the big guns to the fight !

  12. I agree. I meant in the way people use "false advertising". I'm looking forward to Navi. AMD has done a good job of keeping the mystery alive.
Wow I will have to check that out I honestly didn't expect that at all.

EDIT: It makes me cringe. This "paper launch" you all are referring to is market manipulation. Is Nvidia not confident in Ampere, do they know something I don't?

Aren't there reported 7nm supply issues (yield rates issues) at TSMC?

There is and thats from yesterady i think. Due amd entire stack of cpus and gpus is on that node i really hope it wont be a paper launch like 3080.

  15. It's possible, but unlikely I'd think. Considering staging N5 for mass prod. month or so back & I think they have their orders already cap'd out for that process already.
Wow if that's true that's ballsy of them moving on to another process node while having issues with the last.

I honestly think the information about issues in the 7nm node is just smoke and mirror and misinformation & FUD spreading...
Last I've heard (ca. 1 month back, that is) they've had good yields (around 70-80-ish %).
Hope no accident happened and hope this was on a slightly different branch of the 7nm node (there are at least three I know of).
Currently there is IMHO not enough information to say "oooh, yeld problem, they are doomed to do a similar paper launch as Nvidia" :p

TSMC has a fault rate of 0.09/cm2 on their 7nm process. Anything below 0.5 seems to be really good so yield rates should be good. RDNA2 is made on 7nm+ and that seems to be on par with the standard 7nm.
