But the 1080 is cheaper than the Vega64 right now and available. Doom performance alone is not worth it plus its minimums didn't look any better in those videos.

Hell you can buy a hybrid 1080 for less than Vega64.
    MSI Hybrid 1080 $589.99
    Vega64 black (air) $599.99

You could even pick up a 1080ti for the same price of a Vega64 water cooled.
    Gigabyte 1080ti $699.99

I don't expect a huge improvement in Vega's performance from divers as it definitely appears to have a hardware bottleneck (likely HBM).

That is why im using "only" +1T Overdrive so i have 3ms not 4ms
I can have 2ms but it's just not it.

Besides that, i can confirm that my neoIPS 10Bit Freesync 27" IIyama panel is very similar to my DTP CRT (that i have on my attic now)

IMO Freesync is The Best Tek for LED monitors.

The latest Digital Foundry Vega 56 vs GTX1070 video helped put things in perspective for me. For some reason, they only got sent the water-cooled version of Vega 64 (no air-cooled). Their conclusion is that there's only a 15% difference between V56 and V64 water-cooled, making the V64WC a poor-value proposition.

Not wanting to put the knife in, but, I'm sure there was more of a difference between GTX1070 and GTX1080 products (20%~ at 1080p, more at higher res?).

Well I live in Canada and I can go to my local computer shop and buy a Vega 64 Limited edition with two games for less than a 1080.

Why you trying to sell Nvidia card in AMD thread anyway.
I would even trade one of my GTX1080Ti cards for the AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition.

    1. Mind sharing what that price you can get that Vega64 bundle for local as all I'm seeing on Canadian etailers is $840CA and many 1080's under $700.

    2. Now unless you need Vega for Premier or Blender I don't see why you would be willing to trade.

Not trying to "sell" anything as it doesn't effect me in either way just trying to understand how those videos you posted make you want a Vega given current prices.

Well, the prices on Vegas are inflated atm, so don't compare them. The Vega64 air MSRP is $499. TY FU retailers jacking up the prices and trying to condition us to these prices.

@ 399 and 499 vega 56 and 64 make somewhat sense. But at current prices 64 nah no way.

I expect to see 64 pull ahead of 1080 somewhat in future drivers same with 56 vs 1070.

We shall see on that MSRP. However the fact that AMD has not come out and squashed the news on the introductory price thing. $599 may be the 64's price.

I don't expect Vega to gain much with drivers. Fiji barely gained 10% over its life span and it had more memory bandwidth.

To me Vega seems more broken then Fiji ever was on the driver side. And it is way too bandwidth starved. It cannot compete with Fury X at same clocks in some games at all while others it easily wins.

But pull ahead I meant that max 10% gains all in all. Especially if they get stuff like hbcc and primitive shaders to use. Which seem to be not used or simply **** at the moment.

Yeah, all the talk beforehand of Freesync value led us to believe the cards would be expensive, then AMD announced the MRSP and people were relieved.

It's now looking like the original information from AMD was the most accurate for post launch cards and the actual MRSP could be $499 and $599.

EDIT. Just realised this is a speculation thread and we are still speculating about these cards, even well after launch.

We're talking about potential performance, because the full performance isn't available yet.. :eyes:

    Worldwide?

Looked at Tweakers.net/pricewatch and they don't show prices of any version yet.
Guess Western EU / BeNeLux is behind on times again.

Well that sucks big time. Especially seeing as almost no one can get watercooled Vega.

That's the best idea. It wouldn't surprise me to see them performing the best of all the cards.
