Control panel and add-remove software, should have a version number after it.

This one seems to be the newest available at 2.0.4532.34673

Pretty sure that this is the same one that comes with the 12.6 beta.

They are pre-recorded videos, maybe its something with vsync?

Nope, its driver/cap issue, Nvidia has much better performance during cut scenes.

nah the pre-recorded ones seem to run well, game runs great @ 5040x1050 nearly maxed, but the rendered cutscenes( which are only rendered on the centre screen ) run at 3-5 frames a second and skip loads of frames. Tried vsynch on/off, tessellation on/off. Doesnt make sense to me, tried 12.4 drivers and the 12.5 ones along with the latest 12.5 caps.

The majority of cutscenes in Max Payne 3 are not pre-recorded videos.
Going into the 5th chapter, the only major pre-recorded cutscene was the opening in his apartment where all the major designers get credited.

Most cutscenes in gameplay or transitioning from chapter to chapter are ingame rendered. It is very evident when you pick up certain weapons that then appear in the cutscenes in Max's hand. It is very awesome work, it doesnt break the illusion of gameplay because my shotgun or MP5 does not suddenly disappear from Max's hands in cutscenes.

The performance issue is very bad though. I'm on my 6990 with 5670x1200 all very high with FXAA, getting 90FPS in gameplay but only 10 FPS in any kind of cinematic. Even if I stop to "examine a clue", and the camera pans to look at some tiny object like a necklace or something, the FPS dies even when there is nothing on the screen that should be causing this. Went from 12.4 to 12.5 to 12.6 beta with these CAPS and nothing has solved it or alleviated the issue in the slightest. I even tried to lower the settings but the cutscenes just rape.

    I have to disagree.

Im in that Club/Disco level, its rendered at start of the level (chopper, entrance), but next part when you see dancing people, etc is a video, press enter and you will see a message still loading..

And that's why i mentioned it, i saw at least 5-6 videos before i came to this Club level, each time to load background level data.

Ah i missed your reply, and at omega nemessis28

Yes those are rendered, im sorry for confusion..

Btw there is a lot of depth of field going on. Maybe its something with that? I play with FXAA -v.high, no msaa, rest at v.high, also downsampled and it runs great.
Actually better then expected, I thought i would get 45-50fps, but then I see 70-85fps at 2.5mil pixel resolution. :)

There's no problem installing this on windows 8 with the release preview driver, right?

    Thanks

These caps improved it a lot for me, now the cutscenes are at least 15FPS so i can actually see whats going on. Will do for now.

As far as i know you just need to put it in Windows 7 compatibility mode when running it.
