I hope people stop giving a damn about Windows and look for alternatives.
Windows 10 is an ad bloatware, not an OS. I don't even understand why the hell people paying for it.

AMD, Gaben, please relieve us from DirectX curse. I want freedom.

Look at XP. What is their share now. Same will happen to W7 when support ends. It took till service pack 2 before XP was up to snuff. W7 was released at the right time that is all. The organization I work for is already starting to transition to 10. We were on XP till support ended and then on 7. We will have been on W7 for a shorter amount of time then we were on XP by the time 10 is completely rolled out.

7 are done basically. Linux doesn't even have a proper I/O subsystem for the desktop ready yet, Valve's SteamOS "distro" is a joke.

Things aren't really looking good for Linux gaming unless you count the indie ports. Even for those, the Windows versions are usually much faster.

Add to this the fact that Microsoft is now a Linux Foundation Platinum Member and also bullies, coerces Linux world/ just to be sure
they attack on both fronts, as a "friend" and foe.

Whenever I use Windows 7 (2009) lately, it feels old and antiquated. We should just let 7 go. You can still run it on your current/older parts. 7 was great but it isn't going to be supported forever. This was nearly the exact same lifespan XP (2001) had.

As to the "it's all to sell more stuff" implications, was anyone really building a new rig and then installing an outdated, ~8 year old OS on it? Seems like a tiny blip on the radar crowd that is hardly worth caring much about (businesswise).

there is a line between having to choose or being forced, bullied into something.
and bussines world, enterprise uses more Win 7 computers or even XP that Microsoft wants to admit or care to support.

What do you mean by forced because they dont have to support an old OS if they dont want to. And if it means better support for 10 by not thinkering with multiple ones then I am all for it.

The point wasn't the reason, but that people always complain about a new OS, even years after 7 was released there were a hardcore bunch who still swore by XP.

Personally data mining isn't a concern for me, and I have never had a forced update, but im always on the latest drivers anyway. Can imagine if you only play one game and have found the best driver, the it could be annoying.

That trend looks like people eventually upgrading XP to 7, so i do see people crying if W10 share starts increasing again.

Well DX12 is coming soon. And Windows 10 is getting pretty good patches and hints how to make it more privace and such, so it will probobly just be fine, it has good support at least still. and will get better. give it a little change. I'm still rocking Win 7 but it wont be long now intil Win 10 will be my primare OS. it will be fine. dont worry.

This. People who say they will switch to Linux are full of sheer ignorence. They are saying "I'ma stick with 7 until it goes EOL than go to Linux" lol, just to make a "statement" against MS despite losing out on the MS ecosystem by dropping Windows.

A lot of Linux users duel boot. There's Windows apps/games that you can't get elsewhere.

    Windows 10 is fine.

I agree Windows 10 has been perfectly fine for me and anyone else i ask. Software needs to be updated and with the amount of processors that come out every year i'm sure it can be hard to make sure they all work for loads of different operating systems.

Don't get me wrong it sucks, but it isn't the worst thing to happen in the world.

Some people seem to think changing an OS takes 3 years of planning :3eyes:

Y'know what I'm finding really funny? Everyone who is trying so hard to hold onto W7 were the same kinds of people who held onto XP. And look at us now - most of us agree XP is pretty much useless. This situation is no different, except W7 users had their chance to upgrade for free; XP users pretty much required to buy a whole new PC and a new OS.

Personally, I'd gladly keep using XP if it supported modern hardware (and software). I like how barebones it was. If Windows PE could run games I'd use that instead of W10.

One of the reasons I like dual-booting with Linux on my gaming PC is because it only uses maybe 60MB of RAM at bootup, including cached memory. It is pretty much just the bare essentials - Steam, a web browser, file browser, Bluetooth, and audio. The kernel itself comes with all the drivers, so there's nothing else a gamer really needs. I just wish I could get a lean version of Windows where I don't have to spend an hour or two removing and disabling stuff I will never use, while eating up disk space.
