last night it was working fine. i turn it off and go to bed

today when i get back home i turn it on and it gives me no video. i opened it and checked everything, swapped it with another psu, took out the video card and resetted the cmos, nothing

i left it unplugged and then an hour ago i turn it on and it suddenly works again but everything is all messed up and the cd rom will only work on windows but wont show on the bios

im scared now though. what could have caused this?

    my specs:

    8 gb centron ram 2x4
    asus p8h61-m le
    hitachi 500gb
    nvidia 460 gtx (factory overclocked)
cooler master silent pro 600w (please dont tell me its the psu after the previous headache :()

^ That, could be corrupted or possibly a failing CMOS battery, maybe a faulty cable or drive?

this thing is only 2 months old and i haven't messed with the bios at all because i am not crazy enough to mess with that.

i was thinking maybe a faulty drive cause the hdd and dvd rom are old farts. im buying new ones later today

the dvd rom stopped working a few days ago then started back up when i changed the cables.

EDIT: the pc is working again and booting up but the hard drive is making some weird clicking sounds when i turn it on

Try to POST with no drives attached.. easy way to test it without spending money

If doesn't work I would take that 460 out and try POST with onboard video if you have it.. go from there

If it happens again, You could pull and reset the ram, sometimes if you touched the pins it can get a coating on it and once and a while will black screen the computer. Lord knows I've done it before, lol
