New - New York State License Plates - Ugly?

So I found out a few weeks ago that NYS was implementing new plates which I dont understand because our plates now are fine, it is all just to make money when we go to re-register our vehicles we will be charged a 25.00 plate fee. These new plates are so ugly. Do you think they are?

There is no artistic impression at all!

 

Yet another scheme from the government to find an excuse to charge you money. The new design is worse than the old one. Though i am guessing they put the yellow color so it is more easily recognizable ????

 

Supposed to be more reflective, but yes just a way fille the budget gap, that was one reason publicly stated and noone has any say.

I don't get it. They JUST changed them like 10 years ago.

Hah! Reminds me of Ohio's 'party' plates. They are that same hideous yellow-orange color. They also remind me of Alaska's plates which have been the same for years. For those that don't know or haven't heard of party plates, those are issued to drivers who have been found guilty of DUI charges. This is what the plates look like.

 

I prefer the old one alot more.

In the UK, the front plate is white, and the back plate is yellow.

 

Come to England where our plates are even more boring.

 

Hideous. Look like they were designed in the early 70s.

Move to Jersey!

 

The old Ohio plate looks exactly like a New Mexico plate.

 

They changed them back in 96 I thought and now again plus now they are hideous.

 

they actually changed in 2001, and i do care cuz its gonna hit my pocket.

I love the old NY plate, always admired it over the boring Ontario plates lol when visiting my cousins in NYC.

 

Haha actually no I wasn't being sarcastic at all. It doesn't seem to me that license plates need to be changed every 10 years. It seems like a waste of money actually. They aren't really something that needs to be hip and trendy. The plates from the 80's would still be fine right now in my opinion.

 

I don't live in NY but the blue and white plate looks a lot better.
