New HDD external with power button

    I ignore any power strip and I abort any new HDD external. I've bought new HDD internal Toshiba P300 3TB (HDWD130UZSVA). :D

    Therefore, this thread will be closed - admin or moderator, please. ;)

    I've used about 4 different Intensos over the years, all based on 5400rpm designs. No problems with any of them.

    the auto shutdown after 10 min you keep mentioning...are you talking about the power plan putting your hdd to sleep?

    The 10 minute setting is not the same for external harddrives, as I have turned that off completely. Some USB harddrives shut down quite quickly and are of course therefore slow to start again. I think this leads to more wear and tear than just spinning all the time.
    I only use 5400rpm harddrives btw, I understand if some want their 7200rpm drives to not be active, but windows is not really that great in detecting the usage properly. A torrent can be active yet the harddrive can still shut down.
    It could be that this has been fixed but I doubt it..
