    Has anyone tested these with Knights of the Old Republic and KOTOR2: The Sith Lords?

    Both of these games are OpenGL based (Aurua Engine) and TSL hasn't been patched yet and has terrible slow downs when you go to Dantooine.

    Do the new Cats show any improvements whatsoever?

    Installed the 5.3's from 5.2's.
    Doom 3 is smoother, no probs.
    Far Cry is the same, no probs
    HL2 "seems" smoother, no probs
    Call of duty and UO is the same, but ran flawlessly before,
    Riddick:EfBB is the same, no probs.

    I guess I will keep the 5.3's:rock:

    FPS in multiplayer games also depends on the network and whether the server is capping client FPS or is lagging.

    I cant even install em, anyone else hanging at the WDM stage? BTW, if you like digital vib, try these settings:
    advanced, color tab
    gamma = 0.75
    brightness = 4
    contrast = 144

    ?

    How can a server "cap" fps on the end user level? Network performance certainly has impact on the fluidity of teh gameplay but really doesnt have a true impact on how well a GPU and it's driver set renders pixels.

    How does your computer learn what other users are doing? Via the information sent by the server... the server has to be able to send information fast enough to keep the user up to date with what is happening, and it has to be close to real time because if it's not it will seem like your movements are delayed, so to limit this they can send data at a slightly larger interval, meaning there is a slightly larger gap between each update, you cant get frames which requires position information that does not exist.

    Haven't experienced any problems with it but I always ran it in d3d with my 9800xt. Recently upgraded my card and for the first time open gl worked pretty well. Have experienced any blue screenies yet.

    Well of course. But regardless, this is a post about the performance of a driver set and how they work with games....not a lesson on network metrics and efficiency on the client -> server side.

    And like you mentioned, if the connection between point A - B is congested, choked, or shoddy, yes...one will see "choppy" gameplay, but that still has nothing to do with the GPU rendering pixels. That has to do with network degredation or a server that is overburdend or just plain crappy.

    I hear what your saying though....

    With these driver,i get less performance than 5.2.But the image quality is better than 5.2 ,i think 5.2 is special for benchies,i hope omega can improve the image quality with these driver,or maybe can improve the speed with these 5.3.
    I got plenty decrease ,which are :
    ~ -1000 in Aquamark
    ~ -500 in 3dmark01
    ~ -50 in 3dmark05
    ~ -7 fps in half-life stress test

    but the image quality is awesome,and they add some shader improvements in this driver.
    And i agree,that network lagging doesnt effect the performance.

    I am not 100% sure, but after installing 5.3, I have had a raise in temp on the card as well as the case?

    Am going to give it a couple of days and go back to 5.2's to resolve it.

    Don't like 5.3's either. Gone back to 5.2's, but kept the OGL v.2.0 driver. ;)

    From 21 > 35 after 10 mins of the PC being turned on is bad for me as far as I am concerned and will be going back to 5.2's.

    Why would this happen?

    bleee this drivers sux, they crush my system, I've returned to 4.12 omega drivers, in my opinion still the best drivers to the x800 series

    No, and I don't intend to, cause of all of these posts, where I can't find one good reason, staying with 5.2

    i dont think i will even try these drivers.
    im running the 5.1s myself. i got a drop of about 20-30 fps in the CS:S stress test using the 5.2s. i read in the release notes of the 5.3s that there are still the problems with KOTOR2. i wont upgrade until those problems are fixed.

    9800pro Cat 5.3 HL2 crashed in the same scene twice. About an 8% loss of fps in Pacific Fighters. Back 4.12betas. This will all be just a dream when the 6800GT shows up.
