I'm using the same HDD as a games drive in my main PC and my back-up PC has a 6 year old TX850 powering it. Really the 770 and a 4770K wont push that PSU at all even overclocked. If the PSU is working now with no issue I see no reason to replace it.

Nope you should be golden PSU cables have been standardized for a while. I think the last change was made back in the late 90's when they added SATA.

how long dose those psu can last ? i mean what is the estimated life time for them?
do they usually take other components with them when they die ?

    Hey, so you got it?

    I would say ~4-5years np.

In my case I had a 5year old Tagan from my old system and it lasted 5-6years overall, although it also survived 2 lightning strikes (emp), ok 2nd killed it, but it didnt take my current system with it, happened last year ~October.

So yeah known brands are robust, I wouldnt worry about it..

its this model . am a bit worried of reusing it for another 5 years round on the
new hardware . but it looks strong still . i dont find a corsair box at the market atm
there is zalman . am not so worried about buying a new psu but
i dont find a corsair in the market atm
maybe its still better than the new ones at least its tested

I would test old psu and then worry later

    edit:
btw 4790k is set for June 6th., but then again you never know that 4770k could be a good OC'er like mine, I bet it will be the same lottery by 4790k :)

you think it will be same price ? or shooting in the range of 500$
it will take me some time for me to set a new budget as you see
plus i dont want to be a tester on the new socket the z87 socket showed great deal of instability at start . yes i herd that the new cpu is 30% stronger
in ocing but am not sure to wait cause of the price and stability
    worries.

Well in that case get what you planed in the first place.. It will be monster rig vs what you have now anyway.

Idk about 4790k pricing, but imo it wont be any more then 4770k, probably ~ 330-350$.

    Hello,
    overheated yesterday -_-
I'm pretty sure its either CPU, Motherboard or PSU.
I didnt get a bluescreen, it just kinda died and doesnt start anymore (and smelled burned.. and one of my usb connectors may have melted..), which is quite different from the last time my gpu or HDD died..
..and i may have run my i5-750 cpu pretty hot.. i guess that mixed with the first hot summer day was just too much T_T

    anyway..

that hopefully still leaves me with a functional HDD, SSD (OCZ Vector 150), RAM and Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 7950 OC Boost..the card is pretty long (~29,5cm , had to bent the HDD case a bit to fit it in..)

Which is why I want to use this event to get a new chassis as well.

I was thinking of getting an i7-4770k (dont want to wait around for i7-4790K)

What kind of motherboard and PSU do i need here?
Any silent and cool chassis you can recommend that are big enough? (and <120€) do i need additional fans?

I mostly just use the internet and play games, and only overclock a bit once i feel like getting an upgrade anyway..I wont ever use crossfire either.. I would like some usb ports at the front or/and top.

    any recommendations?^^

double meaning of things . or as they call it read between the lines .
this could be a major comedy post on this thread/project i am doing .
its a good thing , its ok with me .
if not i dont know what are you doing here , posting on my space .
    thank you .
