So what, I can enable or disable ReBar on my motherboard in less than a minute.
If I'm playing a game that has a benefit, I would just turn it on.

nope, if your 2070S has Re-Bar BIOS, it won't boot when you disable Re-Bar in the BIOS, I have tried.
So it's a no go if you don't have dual BIOS GPU
Even if your GPU has dual BIOS, it's still a pain to flip BIOS.

turing has no support for sam so even if you do enable in the bios does not mean it works. I can also enable on the rx580.

Well its on in bios and drivers here but gpu-z still says hardware not compatible

I didn't know that. That's more of an hassle.
But still, it would be good for me, because the games I like, would benefit.
It would be nice if nVidia gave ReBar support on Turing, like AMD did on older cards.

AMD fine wine ?? Where is the fine wine on VEGA ??? It never happened, offcourse it didn't because i happen to have bought one, same crap as it ever was.
Nothing for this one, everything for the rest. Know how lucky most of you seem to be with you actually getting what marketing sheits promised you.
It's not like an ASUS does any better with leaving crap disabled to make more money on twenty different obnoxious motherboard itterations of the same, but each option that is build in must be payed for to be unlocked.....The complete industry are douchbags for money, that's all that always remains of anything.
Also bugs that still have to get fixed after the cards are succeeded (a few times) already, that ain't quality at all.

Far as I know those cards still run really great and did improve their performance over time.
But sure, they won't be getting this, likely. Nor will the RX400 series.

They did. There are features missing with gcn but Polaris and Vega performance improved quite a bit over the years. He should be happy but let him have his little rant.

    Well Well,

Just played AC Valhalla for a while

In the benchmark lows haven't changed by more than a few fps from 46 - 49 BUT gameplay is smooth as hell

    Solid 85fps locked with RTSS

I barely even game anymore, but I'm thrilled anyways. I'm gaming at, effectively, 3K (3440x1440), and this 5700XT could use all the help it can get.

I don't trust the Minimum fps metrics in the HZD benchmark. Dunno why y'all are so amused, lol.

This is really interesting! When Resizable BAR or Smart Access Memory was announced it required a motherboard BIOS update and VBIOS update for this to work. To date a few games support this technology, both I wasn't expecting it could be done on a driver level...NVIDIA please enable this a similar option on GeForce 10, 16 and 20 card (If only on 20 cards) so that we can experience a free boost to performance.

1> its not done on a driver level
2> AMD bundles VBIOS/Firmware in the Driver package.
    not gunna happen

Keep on dreaming lol - on their end there's absolutely no reason to do so, any card they release will sell like hotcakes it just doesn't matter for them who exactly buys the card.
If you as a gamer cannot get a new GPU then it's your problem and they have 0 care on increasing value/staying power of existing cards when there are new ones to push with zero effort.

I wonder when SAM will be accessible in Linux?

You mean my R7 3700X with 5700 uses SAM already on the 5.13 kernel?

amdgpu Linux kernel driver supports entire VRAM visible to CPU ("Above 4G Decoding") for years. Then there are userspace drivers (Vulkan & OGL) taking advantage of this (which is "SAM"), all relatively recent versions of drivers (RadeonSI, RADV and AMDVLK) support this. It is enabled by default when SAM is enabled in bios. You can also force it (the SAM part, but not all VRAM visible to CPU) on/off with at least RADV via environment variable and there also is a driconf setting for RadeonSI.
    See RADV_PERFTEST=sam/nosam https://docs.mesa3d.org/envvars.html#radv-driver-environment-variables

Afaict, this applies to all GPUs supported by the drivers, as long as dmesg reports BAR size >256MB (from what I've heard, even old AMD cards like Fiji, Tonga etc. don't have a vbios limitation here, unlike "old" Nvidia cards like Turing).
