Exciting times for AMD and for consumers as well. As long as there is decent competition, there will be progress, and lower prices as well

Wow! What about prices on these things I am assuming its going up against Xeons no so possibly $599.99 - $699.99? Amd has really suprised me this last year I wish them all the best to catch-up with Intel.

I am interested in the upcoming Apu from Ryzen as well, just wish they had a little more wiggle room say 4.5 Ghz? Oh well cant have it all I guess.

With these Whiteheaven CPU's they will shake up Intel a bit for sure. What is more important is that buyers will get "more bang for the buck" .

Good times ahead of us:), more work for Hilbert:nerd: more fun for us :nerd:
and hopefully a real drop in price to performance "wishful thinking" but hey it's OK to dream:infinity:

1800x as an htpc...you Sr. like to have overkill builds.

This surely will be half the cost of current Intel parts at close to the same performance :D

I am amazed with the clock speeds. These will be very interesting chips.

    CPU LIneups

The CPU line-ups should have been like this 4-5 years ago as far has how many cores are in low to high end mainstream and HEDT CPU's. I have to hand it to AMD they are doing a bang up job. Pretty nice seeing 8 cores is now mainstream and 12-16 is going to be HEDT. We will have Intel pushing 4 core HEDT with Kabylake-x here shortly. I bet the Intel engineers are rolling there eyes at there bosses with that I told you that was a dumb idea look.

Good thing you and the engineers are not the ones running things at Intel...

Quad channel memory.. Would have been nice to see with AM4, but great news regardless. About time Intel lost their lock on the market.

Now we're talking AMD. Just slap a minimum of 40 PCI lanes on it and I will finally have a reason to upgrade my aging but still great Sandy-E. My virtual lab is already shaking and salivating just by thinking of the MOAR CORES!!! :D

    Next Year

No argument I would have never thought to milk the market with small incremental increases and changing sockets to generate revenue. Got to hand that to Intel and it comes with a very nice upside that AMD is around so they are not deemed a monopoly. Lets revisit this next year. I suspect a small downward tend until Ice Lake lands.

From where all these cores coming from ?!? I cant believe that AMD with 10 X smaller RD budget than intel manages to kick in 16 cores with 2.5X reduced price. What kind of sorcery is this ?!

No magic there. Intel could have done this years ago if they wanted. The reason they didn't is explained by those graphs Chillin posted.
