Just bought (yesterday) a Winfast 6600GT. Did a WinXP SP1 fresh install with latest nforce and forceware drivers, latest DX and all.

Card is running fine (fpswise), but im getting some weird video errors in Far Cry and HL2 (not doom3 though) so im guessing its a DX9 problem.

    Can you help me guys?

Thx in advance. Alex Kid. :)

Doesn't look very well, are you running 67.03 drivers or later?

Most likely its DX problem... Try to reinstall DX. If it will not help, RMA your card.

Update Far Cry to 1.3. I had the same problem and the update fixed it. In HL2 i´m using 71.24 and the only issue is the yellow water.

Ok...ive been doing some of the things suggested in here. reinstalled DX9.0c (again), installed 67.03 NVidia drivers and nothing :(.

Sorry guys but i need to know whats up. Is the card broken?

Doom3 is working fine...whats the difference?

Oh and Pedro, FC was already updated to 1.3.

Download the Far Cry Patch 1.3 to solve the first problem.

Dont use the 71.xx drivers in HL2.

And the last? I dont know.

Far cry is already patched to 1.3 as i said earlier....

I readed elsewhere the winfast 6600Gt was a good one. Is the entire brand ****ed? Just this one?

Tried 3 different drivers (66.93, 67.03 and 71.40) and reinstalled DirectX several times. Is it a safe bet to say its not a software problem?

Thanks for ur time guys. I just jumped from a GF2 and bought Far Cry, HL2 and Doom3 and this sucks :(.

PD: If the card is broken/crap, how come Doom works flawlessly? I believe Doom3 is OpenGL and FC and HL DX.....Am i in the right direction?

    Thanks again....help me please.

RMA = Return Merchandise Authorisation (or some crap like that)
What it means is that, should the card proved to be faulty, the shop can either have it replaced, or it may be sent for inspection and repair....or some crap like that!:D I'm not in the trade but this is what RMA means and entails.

Recently, I built a 2nd gaming rig - see below

At first, when I fired up the rig and installed PK, FC, D3, UT2k3....everyone ran nicely except for FC - looked like your 1st pic. I installed patch 1.3 (w/o bothering to install 1.1 first), it ran beautifully after that. I have FC at 1024x768, max detail, 2xQAA/4xAF and I couldn't be happier. Since you've installed patch 1.3, and it still look like crap, it could be that a previous driver version is causing the problem, or that your installation of DX9.0c/driver wasn't done right. I'd suggest a format to get rid of whatever driver that was in your rig....or you can use driver cleaner to do it too. It could very well be that your 6600GT is one of those with bad core.....maybe.

i cant say if the problem is your card, but i think you should concider the fact that your card is defective and must be returned! You havent clocked it or something!?
