anyone else notice that this driver (178.15) compared to 178.13 is using an older veersion of nvidia Control Panel...

    178.15 uses 1.5.0

    178.13 uses 2.07

could someone posted a pic of the .dll files that show in the System info - Components box.

    do u have a nvGame.dll and a nvGameR.dll

looks like that this drivers has more than simply 'correction'
    everyone is getting nice boost.

maybe this 'unoficial' release is a beta try for 180?

though its not a big deal .. cp version shouldn't effect driver performance :p ..

@ scratch42069 : did u clean nv cp files before installing this driver ?? If u didn't then the newer cp applet should stay back , thus u still getting the newer cp .. Anyway .. anyone else on Vista plz. test this ..

I've read that people playing Warhead with 178.13 had performance issues.

I will start playing it next week, so maybe i will give 178.15 a spin with it.

    Thanks for those benchmarks.

Just installed the 178.15 drivers for vista 64bit (uninstalled and ran driver cleaner/sweeper through safe mode as always) once booting back up I was met with a blue screen. I tried going into safe mode to uninstall, however I get the same blue screen in safe mode as well.

Don't know if files became corrupt or what the deal is.

I tried windows recovery (not system restore, i'd rather just format if it comes to that).

How should I go about fixing this problem, the only thing I could think of is loading cmd prompt via cd and deleting the files which the drivers install, but which ones would I need to delete?

    Your help is appreciated.

    8800GT/Vista Ultimate 64 if you're wondering.

Did you try changing any BIOS settings? Try reverting back to factory originals and boot into safe mode, see if that works. Safe mode doesn't load the Nvidia drivers so it (probably) won't have anything to do with your problem. I had the problem once and found out my bios was upping the multiplyer without me even knowing, took me ages to find out since I hadn't changed it. I reverted to an older bios after that. :nerd:

Nope, I installed 178.15 over top of 178.13.

:p .. no wonder the "newer" version of the CP stayed back .. a clean install would install the cp supplied with the driver ... but it'd not make any diff. in the actual driver perf. anyway :p ..

So anyone know if these are worth checking out from 174.12's , 175's; 176's; 177's and my FPS in Crysis decreased by 5-10, and 178.13's halved my FPS in Crysis Warhead in an indoor level (quickly uninstalled afterwards) or do I wait for 180's

I don't have numbers but Crysis Warhead is much better on this set than anyone I tried before. Indoor levels are bloody fast.

Also, I fixed the PES 2009 Vsync problem in Vista 64 :) It was some stupid bug. Forcing Vsync through a game profile in nVidia Control Panel fixed everything. Now playing PES 2009 demo smooth as butter in 1680x1050 all high :biggun:

Well, you must be blind then. Crysis is so much better graphically.
I bet you can't tell the differences between HD TV vs regular TV.

I play both Crysis and Stalker on max settings (DX10 both) and I will tell you that they both have their "better" in certain terms of graphics. Generally, and overall, Crysis has much better graphics.
