I don't know if to feel joy or panic.

 

I on the other hand am very hopeful about such technologies! Can help countless people that are left stuck on a chair or even paralyzed from the neck and bellow!

 

Who would willingly let some robot to insert 1 to 16 thousand wires into his brain... only a brainless person.

 

It's Elon Musk, so it will be done in six years and kill 12 people in the first month.

 

Hopefully that new urge also comes with ideas for that to be affordable

First deliver self driving cars (in 2017 tier vehicle tech) then lets talk body augments from the notorious musk

That this comes from the greatest snakeoil sales man of all time is concerning , the technology in general is a glimmer of hope for people with reduced motor function or none at all .

Ah yes, Elon Musk and companies, famously good at predicting launch windows of their products... 6 months, yes of course.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if there would be a way to implant it for extra cheap by having advertisements play while you sleep, or so Amazon can collect your data. Just by thinking of a product, you will have ads targeted toward those thoughts. Ironically, that's actually less creepy than how some ads work today. The algorithms used are shockingly effective based on the relatively small amount of data they collect from us. I'm also somewhat convinced that phones are listening to us while we speak. Too often have I encountered targeted ads or youtube videos for things I spoke of but know I never searched for.

It's a missed opportunity if they don't. A lot of people practically live on their phones and likely think they're private and secure. I've got mine turned off and out of sight most of the time.

 

Who would even want this? Talk about invasive. "6 months" OK Elon...that line should help you with your stock you can quick sell but I doubt it's accurate.

 

If I had some crippling neural-derived disability (such as paraplegia, blindness, deafness, etc), I honestly would have some interest in this if it meant I could become more independent or capable. I wouldn't care about the risks because I would either get something that would help me, or, I would help future development where others would benefit from what was learned from me. I wouldn't care about the likely invasion of privacy because, well, most of such people don't have a real sense of privacy - many are at the discretion of their caretakers.

Granted, that's just me though. I have no right to speak for those who suffer from such disabilities.
