Need a 650-700ish psu for a z390 gigabyte aorus elite motherboard. The one I have has quit. I went to bestbuy to get one, but the 8pin cpu connector was wrong. It had 2 8 pin connectors. Issue is I need 1 8 pin and 1 4pin connectors.

Did the 8-pin allow for separating it to 4+4? I was under the impression all 8-pin CPU power connectors could separate, like the ATX 20 + 4 cable. On the 4-pin motherboard I have, I leave the 8-pin combined and just plug it right in (extra 4 pins are floating). It looks like you could pull that off on that motherboard too assuming the nearby screw is low-enough or just outright removed.

Are you sure those 2x 8-pin connectors you were talking about were not 8-pin (6+2) PCIe 12V connectors for the GPU?

Usually if some PSU has 2x 8-pin EPS (CPU) connectors at least one of them can split to 4+4.

Take a look at EVGA 750 BQ, model: 110-BQ-0750V1

As someone that owns an EVGA power supply.... don't buy an EVGA power supply.

Care to elaborate why? We can take it on a PM, in order to avoid piggybacking the thread.

The fans they put in the power supplies are awful, they start squeaking after a while... I had to open the power supply and replace the fan and now run a fan in the psu by being connected into the motherboard.

From the get go the fan was also noticeably very audible... horrible fans.

The problem in my case is well known, seen it posted elsewhere and video's of it on youtube.

I've had an evga 600 bronze for like 6 years, and its never made extra noise. probably model specific.

Using a Asus Thor 1200w, alittle overkill, but hopefully future proof some what. It's nice.

I also own evga psu and will never buy another. Fans are loud, coil whine is ridiculous when gpu is at max wattage. OP, I would stay away from evga. Newegg should have something you desire, best buy will overcharge you.

I have 2 EVGA G3's 1000 watts psu's running for like 6.5 years now. Never had a issue with them, no whine, or fan noise. Like most brands, it usually model specific. Do your research when selecting PC hardware.

I bought a PSU that uses one of those "maglev fans." (RM750x.) I believe it's physically impossible for it to squeak?

Coil whine is direct result of switching frequency, which used to be lower on older hardware.
