Who is planning a pre-order?
Assuming they dont poop on us like they did for hot pursuit and actually release a PC demo I may preorder it.
didnt they have helmet cam in the first one? i was thinking the camera would shake when you got hit, that sorta thing. been a while since i played it.
I am into racing so I may give it a shot on the pre-order. However, I do hope they atleast have a demo.
SHIFT 2 Unleashed™ Limited Edition Trailer
The first one doesn't have helmet cam, rather its just cockpit view. Shift 2 features cockpit view WITH helmet cam so you see some helmet borders on your screen.
SHIFT 2 Unleashed™ Career Trailer
anyone heard what they're using for a graphics engine? looks to be a step up from GTR2 and Shift ...
The trailers look pretty good based on what I have seen.
Is it the opinion that this will be the best racing game out to date?
GT5 isn't a game, claims Shift 2 producerBy James Orry - game needs to be fun and entertaining.
Sony and Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5 is not considered a game by Shift 2 producer Jesse Abney.
Abney told VideoGamer.com that in his eyes, a product needs to meet certain criteria in order to be classified as a game. When judged against this criteria, he believes Gran Turismo 5 falls short.
"I've never really considered GT5 a game," Abney told VideoGamer.com. "A game to us equals fun, equals entertainment - and Need For Speed has always been about entertaining and fun.
"You play GT5, you get a scientific approach to driving. Physics simulations are often subjective, and again - we find we're not presenting the same kind of physics simulation in the race day environment that GT5 is doing in their driving simulation."
Despite operating in the same video game genre, Abney concluded that the two titles don't really compete.
"We've never really professed to compete against them, we've just said that we want to deliver a fun, exciting, visceral, entertaining racing experience."
Shift 2 will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on March 25.
VideoGamer.com AnalysisEA is clearly attempting to differentiate its 'sim' Need for Speed spin-off from Sony's best-selling driving simulator, but we're pretty confident there are millions of gamers who'd argue GT5 can still be fun and entertaining despite its scientific approach to driving.
I guess people will need to form their own opinion once released.
Damn, thats a bad sign, looks like its going to be more arcadey, just as i was getting excited about this.
Should of guessed EA wouldn't of had the balls to make a proper sim.
Well, it is hard to say without actually playing the title.
I guess, we will all see when we have a chance to play the game.
Yeah, suppose, but that last outburst, and talk about making it "fun" isn't really what i want, as fun for the masses probably means not making it too hard or realistic.
Hopefully its just some clueless EA marketing boy, trying to generate hype for the game by mentioning Gran Turismo.
Your right and I think they may be looking for a balance or trying to be all things to all people. Trouble is to please one genre usually means disappointing the other.
I hope this games turns out as good as we all think it will be.
we need a demo, crysis 2 mp demo is comin, want one for this one too!!
yes, a demo would be nice.
if i remember correctly, SHIFT 1 demo came out after the game has already been released
I'm not trying to be moany, but if EA are going to go the route of two very different NFS games, then they need to do it properly.
I love arcade racers, but i unlike alot i also love a good sim racer, unfortunately most of those are old and have rather poor visuals, which is something i find very important in a racing game.
GT5 looks great, but only for certain cars, and considering the view i use, high quality track visuals are just as impotant, if not moreso when your playing the game.
Will still probably get this, as faults and all the first game was still alot of fun, and had great wheel support, so i at least expect them to improve on those two things, and helmet cam does look intereting, even if it will no doubt be difficult.
