Has anyone else noticed that this game only uses one core properly?
That's intentional as it allowed the game to run on the consoles and PC with reduced controller lag compared with other 30 fps and 60 fps racers respectively. For more info you can read this article *here*.
I've only played one standard race so far online but it was 100% lag free and tons of fun. It was indistinguishable from playing it offline actually in terms of visuals and smoothness/framerate.
i haven't even been able to play. i get to the point where i pick my car and bam, driver stopped responding error, ctd! im using 260.99. i want to play this damn it
EDIT: So much for the late practice, the image quality was wreaking havoc with my eyesight (far objects), probably not a good game to play when you're tired.
have you changed anything in NVCP??
no not really, just changed AA to application controlled. this is the first game thats givin this error since i had vista a couple years ago ...
a major point of annoyance.
the damn text in multiplayer games is covering the screen, so i cant see where the road goes.
i need a mod to make the text smaller.
it seems the game has issues with quad cores. i had to use only 2 cores, core0 and core1, now the game launches and runs fine. looks like crap but runs good ...
i just hate the cutscene where it shows police waiting at the side of the road when u encounter one. its really distracting.
All those scenes where you lose the control are terrible on the gameplay.
Truth is I stopped playing waiting for a patch, slowdowns on a dual core are overkill... they should use what we call videocard acceleration (40% average usage here).
ive just tryed that set affinity tweak to tell it to use core1/2 of my quad and i dont think it did anything apart from use 80% of both cores, normally i use 60% core one and 20% for the other 3cores lol
whats the point exactly in this i dono
runs sweet as a nut for me!
I've been doing some speed trials and the turnaround time is too long if you want to re-start.
I think that the cop cut-scenes are irritating too and there should be an option to disable them, especially when you trash a cop you lose control over your own car for a bit in which time the computer may either magically avoid an incoming car or put you into the side of the road.
A patch is due sometime early next week to fix issues with this game with multi-core CPUs and missing weather effects. There's no mention of adding AA though; I guess we'll have to wait for the drivers to support it properly.
Link to the post from Criterion is *here*. Apparently, they claim the bug that causes the game to crash on some quad-core and dual-core systems shouldn't allow it to run at all, which is pretty amazing given that these games are supposed to undergo extensive quality control.
Sucks, got my retail version through today, but have to go away for a couple of days, so won't be able to play properly until the weekend!! Damn it!
Quality control? why do you want to put money in there when you can focus on marketing?
Learn to EA!
Just curious do police forces in some countries actually use exotic cars as police cars?
I think italy or france uses lambos as police cars don't they.
I think i have seen a picture of a sports car being used as a police car looked really sleek.
This game is poorly made crap. Joke game for modern pc's.
