So I am thinking about changing my 8800 GTS 320 for a new GPU. I was lookin at prices and I might be going red.

    My options are:

    Nvidia 9800 GT
    ATI 4670 1 Gb
    ATI 4830 512 Mb
    ATI 4850 512 Mb

The 4850 is a little over my budget and unavaliable right now so I was considering the 4830. How good is it? How much of an improvemnt will it be? Is the 4830 that mush worse?

I only game at 1280X1024 and my most demanding game right now is GTA 4. I don't want to waste money as I don't have plans to change monitor within the next 2 years.

Please let me know whats the best choice for me guys.

    Thanks.

HD4830 its just a bit faster than the 9800GT really a few % here and there.

the 4830 is faster and can be overclocked to the 4850 speeds

I thought so but I am not into overlocking because the temperatures here in Brazil are very high. I was affraid though that the 9800 GT is just a 8800 GT and I was wondering if that was a big leap for me. I mean I only change cards every two years or so and I would like it to last that long.

So, as it stands, we are looking at either a 4830 or 4850. How much of a performance gain would these two give me?

The difference is minimal, probably about 7-8FPS on average.

it won't be that much of a diffrence , the 4670 is actually a little slower then the 8800GTS 320mb , so I would suggest either to save up some more, or to wait .

yes the 9800gt is a 8800gt... as for peformance gains it will be small for now but as new games release the 4830/4850 will pull ahead of the your 8800gts.. run a test of 3dmark 06 with the 8800gts and 4830 then do a vantage run and see the 4830 scores alot more than the 8800gts in vantage

I just looked at this comparison and was happy to know the 4850 can compete with a GTX 260 on some games at 1280X1024.

I might end up getting a 4850 than but I need to know wich one.

    Saphire custom cooling - http://www.waz.com.br/_produtos/?p=93376
    HIS stock cooling - http://www.waz.com.br/_produtos/?p=92710

They have the same price and are both avliable right now for me to pick up tomorrow.

I would go with HIS' custom cooler (IceQ4), those are the best 4850s around.
