Slot machines, Roulette, and Pachinko. It's blatant and they don't even care. I guess there's basketball in there somewhere too. The reaction's from the shills in this video when they "win" almost makes me more mad than the glorification of gambling itself. At some point you have to say enough is enough and stop supporting this trash. Rated for three years old and up btw. It's like advertising smoking to kids but instead its just gambling. Get them started early!

I kinda wonder why these "sport" games are even being made anymore, They may as well just make Casino simulators.

I don't want to say it, but the time for government intervention is now, because none of the self-regulatory bodies will follow their own standards and are being lobbied. It's out of control and unless something is done, kids might grow up to become gamblers, thinking it's the norm, while the rest of us are annoyed or keep on whalin'. Long gone are the days of buying a full retail game and expecting some kind of quality, now it's just micro and "mega" :D transactions everywhere (cosmetics are equally stupid), loot boxes, season passes or "live service" crap and half baked early access games that never seem to get finished. It won't affect me personally, since I don't play these kind of games and don't accept any kind of fees beyond buying the game (make an exception for expansions and soundtracks), but I know enough people who buy these stupid $60 sports games annually :( and put more money towards them, just trying to get their favorite players or skins, because of the built-in and unbearable grind.

Apparently 2K removed their video, when they got wind of the overwhelming negative feedback.

Well they just set the advertisement to private.

This situation is kind of funny.

You know what, I'll just go out and say it.. This is because the majority of people who buy these types of games are so clueless and are so stuck up these 'famous players' butt's that they don't see how petty and ridiculous this all is. Have you ever met someone who was a huuuuge sports fan? Not speaking for everyone obviously, but a lot of these fans would buy anything with the that 'one dude's' name on it. These players get idolized so hard and companies like 2K know this and exploit it. People like the rest of us who aren't crazed about these sports figures can look past this and see how stupid it is.. There's a sort of zerg mentality when it comes to sports and the athletes that has always really put me off on it. I'd much rather personally play a sport than watch it.

I'm mostly speaking from personal experience and observation here. My brother is one of those huge sports nuts and I know he's the type who would drop a lot of money just because "Steve Nash's classic jersey" can be bought and worn in the game. Who f'n cares? Well, he and a lot of others like him do apparently. These games are the perfect target for these practices when you account for how crazy some people can get over certain players being on their roster.

Today PEGI showed its true color by defending gambling for kids. However the ESRB has yet to make a comment, but one should expect the same level of self-denial.

I don't want to get caught up in another endless discussion, but the fact that the level of monetization has intensified in the last couple of years is what worries me.

quartering did a video other day and i think young has done videos covering this also.

but a ton of the people on the PEGI board are video game publishers 2k is one on the board of pegi btw, think he might have a reason to not want label a game that has gambling it so it can get a kid friendly rating and boil the little ones to gambling.

    PEGI is corrupt industry BS.

Well it turns out this Basketball "video game" was not received well by people wanting to play a Basketball video game.

people being negative on 2k sports games is not new however the nickle and diming of players lest on pc has gotten the series a ton of hate for the last 2 3 years.

I haven't bought an NBA 2K games since 2K18... totally put off by the microtransactions and all this loot box/casino bollocks they've crammed into this year's game. Even then I only bought NBA 2K18 because it was cheap in a Steam sale (£9.99 if I recall). I wouldn't pay full price for a game that is chock full of gambling mechanics. These should be free to play games IMO as 2K have basically turned them in a mobile game!
